Just saw where the vet doctor Tev Barros and staff mishandled a dog and it died. He didn't take any accountability and was reprimanded by the NC medical board.

On April 12th, 2024, my wife and I witnessed our beloved dog, Miko, die right in front of us due to the negligence of Dr. Tev Barros of Oak Ridge Animal hospital. I’ve waited to make this post until the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Board made a decision on our case. As of October 9th, 2024 the board has issued Dr. Barros a letter of reprimand for his actions.
Dr. Barros allowed Morgan (my wife) and I to watch Miko’s surgery. Dr. Barros staff (without the supervision of Dr. Barros) induced anesthesia on Miko. Miko became apneic and soon quit breathing all together. His staff did not intubate Miko until Morgan and I suggested it should be taking place. We voiced multiple times that he was not breathing and something needed to be done. Again, Dr. Barros is nowhere to be found. Once intubated, Miko was not ventilated in a manner adequate to sustain life. After several minutes of utter confusion by his staff, Dr. Barros just happend to walk close enough to hear commotion. By then, it was too late. Miko was dead. Dr. Barros walked around the surgical area with his hands on his head saying “this is my fault” and “I should have been in the room”. He would later go on to say he never said these things. He immediately threw his staff under the bus saying things like “we’ve been over this many times” and “I thought my staff was competent”.
My wife and I both understand mistakes happen. But what’s telling of a person’s integrity is the way in which they respond to a mistake. Dr. Barros never once apologized for his actions. In fact he told my wife “I don’t have time for this”, when we asked for our money back for the pre surgical blood work.
Avoid this place at all costs if you value your pets.

Everyone here is wonderful and knowledgeable! Every interaction I have had with anyone here has been positive. I feel that I am really heard and my questions get answered truthfully.
We were recommended this Vet by our family and so glad we listened.
They are great with our dog and I feel so good with her in their care.

Went here for the first time as a new client a week or two ago.
The young girl at the front desk was very uplifting.
The female tech with the short hair was also very nice and funny.
Dr. Barros is good at his job and he’s very knowledgeable, he’s just not the nicest guy for lack of better words. He’s honestly rude as all get out. The one time I was there he was yelling at one of the techs for a small mistake and he kept going on about it. Do you guys get paid enough to deal with a narcissist?! I hope he mentally and emotionally heals from whatever is making him the way he is. Bless his heart.

They care about your doggies like they are their own❣️.

I am so impressed with Oak Ridge animal hospital. This place is absolutely amazing. The staff is so friendly and over and beyond caring. It is so clean and doesn't have a dog smell . I take my parrots there for nail,beak and wing clips. Dr Camp is amazing with them. She always shows concern, asks me questions and gives me advice on all the new procedures. To make their experiences better. Its so hard to find someone who takes the time or has the patience to deal with exotic birds. Im very thankful for this wonderful place. Highly recommended.

The staff there are extremely friendly and caring. My little pup loves it there and Dr. T and his bud Steve are the best! Would highly recommend this practice for your little fur baby.

ORAH helped me take care of a family of strays that I had adopt me. We got them healthy and all were able to be adopted into forever homes. Dr. T and his staff are amazing! Thank you!!!

We have been using ORAH for almost a year after being referred to by a family member. We have always liked taking our dogs here for their routine checkups.
This week was a little different. Our small dog had eaten some hard plastic and was having trouble passing it. We had to rush him to the ER to see what all was going on. After spending the night at a local emergency hospital, we were to visit Dr. Tev for a morning follow up.
ORAH provided the same services for a fraction of the cost. They were incredibly informative and helpful, ensuring we understood everything going on with our dog. He ended up spending the day at ORAH for further evaluation and X-Rays. We got to bring our little buddy home the same afternoon.
This place always goes above and beyond and it really shows how much they care for their patients.
I couldn’t recommend this place enough. If you’re thinking of switching vets, Dr. Tev is the best in the county, hands down!
