I like the selection but finding help is like going to Vegas. Sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don’t

Help is not easy to find, but that was retail even before COVID-19. However, the people that you do find are usually friendly and helpful.

I had been a customer at Lowe's for 49 years always preferring them to their competitor The Home Depot. I've renovated two homes with products purchased almost exclusively from Lowe's.
I've probably spent $40,000 to 60,000 with them over the past several years.
Now, I'm a customer of The Home Depot.
Why? A few months ago I was adding gutters to my new carport (built with Lowe's lumber) I had an extra elbow left over so I took it to the return desk for a refund. I didn't have a receipt and wasn't sure if I paid cash or credit card. The sales associate couldn't find a record of the transaction and told me they could not accept the return. The $5.00 item was purchased less than two weeks before. I asked to speak to a manager and she refused to accept the return as well.
I handed the gutter item to the manager and told her to keep it and walked out vowing never to return.
A week later I remembered that I was issued a new credit card recently and had purchased the item on the now cancelled card.
Lowe's lost a lifetime customer over $5 refund because they couldn't be bothered to make it right.
I contacted the customer service line as they requested in their response to my review and promised to look into it.
It's been weeks and I've heard nothing. In the mean time Home Depot offered me a credit card and $50 off my first purchase. I took them up on the offer and took my business from Lowes to Home Depot even though the Lowes location is more convenient.
Still haven't heard anything back from customer service and they have not reached out to make things right.
I'm going to stay away from Lowes even as their store is much more convenient to my place and I'm more familiar with the store layout. I'm getting ready to build a new home so will see how things go with Home Depot. I'm also buying more hardware items online with Amazon instead or making the trip to the big box store.

The Lowe's at Elmsley in Greensboro is very well stocked and has an open layout. That's good because it doesn't feel cramped. Needed to pick up a storm door; an associate grabbed a cart for me to put the door on it, let me check out back in that section so that I could stroll right out to the parking lot with ease.

I recently visited Lowe’s Home Improvement looking for 2/0 SEU aluminum cable, which is a pretty basic item for a home improvement store. I went to the electrical wire section and pressed the button for assistance. When the employee arrived, I told him what I needed, and his response was, “I don’t know what that is.” Seriously? How can someone working in the electrical department not know what a service entrance cable is? This is one of the most common items requested in a home improvement store.
It’s incredibly frustrating that Lowe’s hires inexperienced and uneducated employees for positions that require at least a basic understanding of home improvement projects. This experience was a complete waste of my time. Do better, Lowe’s.
FYI: if you’re looking for electrical components for home renovations or whatever you’re doing, go to City Electric Supply or State Electric Supply - they’ve never let me down.

I purchased $500 in trim wood and didn't need a few pieces. I did not have the receipt so they looked up the 3 CC I had with me and could not find it. I told her just give me a store credit (Maybe $20) so I don't have to carry them back home and figure out which card I used. She told me they no longer do store credits. I asked to speak with a manager. He told me very quickly there was nothing he could do. Did not even hear what I had to say or try to come up with an option. I own my own construction company and spend 4k-5k a month (granted not a huge account), but I left there a purchased the dimmer switch I needed at another store. I also determined that Lowe's would not receive another dime from me or my company. I since cooled down, but some bean counter in NYC decided that Lowe's customers need Lowes more than Lowes needs their customers. Bean customers frustrate me so much. I have done things that cost me money just to keep a customer happy.

I needed a new wall oven so i aploed for the lowes credit card to get 20 percent off. Walked in asking about buying a new wall oven. Found out from the salesperson there was a promotion every 500 you spend 50 dollars off. Great threw in a dishwasher as well. I told him I needed a cord for the oven as I didn't know if it was hard wired into the house or not but that I did not need a cord for the dishwasher as I already knew it was hard wired in. Cool. Not cool they couldn't combine the 20 percent off with the other promotion so I got a credit card for nothing. Wait 2 weeks for delivery and night before my delivery I get my receipt. On the receipt has the details of the promotion and if you spent 2500 you got 500 off. Guess how much I spent? 2400. If he would have told me that I would have bought something else and it basically would have been free. Call customer service the next morning and was told since the promotion was over nothing they could do now. Not even some kind of store credit. The delivery guys came and I had to ask for the wall oven cord. He looked it up and said oh ya that's on the truck. I then asked about taking the old appliances away and he said they can only take them if they are un-installed first. If I had known that ahead of time I would have been ready. Now I have to call them to come back which is annoying. Oh and guess what cord I got? The dishwasher. Not the oven cord I asked the salesperson for. I will be cancelling my card and shopping at home depot from now on!!! Lowes does not care about their customers
Edited to add: I tried calling customer service the morning before my delivery. I was told there was nothing that could be done now not even a store credit. I just called customer service again at your suggestion and they had no idea what I was talking bout far as complaint and now she says since the order has been fulfilled there is nothing that could be done but if I had called before there is something they could have done. Funny because I literally called the morning before I got the items delivered. So the online team answering reviews doesn't tell the phone customer service what's going on. Nobody knows what they are doing at lowes anymore and I will not be shopping there again.

Ordered a trailer tire on 5-25-24 along with several other items that I bought in store that day. Was told my tire would be available for pickup in store on 6/3/24. Upon arriving at store on 6/3, was told by the customer service associate at the front desk that the item was in the store but hadn’t been processed yet. I gave it a week and heard nothing, upon returning to the store I was informed that the tire was lost by FedEx during delivery and that an investigation would be made and I would be getting a call from the store once the claim was filed and that it should take no longer than 7 business days. 10 days passed, again I heard nothing. Keep in mind that I have already paid for the item upfront in advance. Upon returning to the store for the 3rd time I asked to speak with a store manager. I spoke with Bradly Adams (Asst. Manager) who looked up my item and took my information. He informed me that he would look into the matter and that he would be giving me a call on Friday to either re-order the item or issue me a store credit, this was on a Tuesday afternoon. Friday came and went, I heard nothing yet again. I just reached out to him today the following Thursday 6/20/24 and asked him what the status was and he replied. No one reached out to you? To which I said you were supposed to last Friday. He said I was supposed to and I didn’t, I’ll get that ordered. Completely dropped the ball, another 6 days passed with nothing done when this tire was needed to get a customers trailer down the road that I had sold. Finally they ordered another one today, 6/20/24 and say it will be at the store by 6/28/24. This has been an absolute nightmare as I feel like I’ve had to do all the following up and a month and 3 days later hopefully I’ll have my product. Wish I would’ve just paid more for it and ordered from Amazon or Tractor Supply. I will never order anything from Lowe’s again and it’s a shame they’re customer service has gone that far down the drain. I shopped at Lowe’s exclusively for any home improvement needs but after this experience it will be Home Depot from now on. If your thinking about ordering anything from this store that is not in stock I strongly urge you to reconsider unless you don’t mind waiting for a month to get it.

great experience in the paint department. but when I went to check out at self-checkout the monitor person kept reaching across my face and my body and touching my screen and going through screens that I didn't want to do. it was completely invasive and despite my asking her to keep her hands out of my transaction she continued to do so. this is not acceptable. I finally had to ask her to step away while I entered my PIN number because she was looking in my wallet.
