Dr Barnes sent my puppy home without treating her for whipworms, knowing she should have and had nothing but excuses to why she didn’t. Seemed offended when I called to question her about why she didn’t let me know her red blood cells were low and just brushed it off saying that it was common in puppies. Don’t waste your time or money on this sorry excuse for an emergency vet. After a 800 dollar bill my puppy got sent home with the same problems she went in with and if they can’t treat something as simple as worms in a puppy just imagine what they’ll do to your animal in more dire circumstances. Sent my puppy home with a certificate for Bravery which is a complete joke, she should give those out at the door for people brave enough to let them treat their pets, Wish I could give her 0 starts.*** I see they chose to responded I would have preferred they showed my puppy the attention they’re showing these reviews. I opted to take my puppy to our regular vet since the experience with them was nothing more than disappointment.

Someone brought my dog because he got ran over the doctor got upset because I told her that I was going to think about because he need surgery they need to do xrays blood test and a bunch of stuff they asked me what was my budget I don't answered at frist.....they told me to do the xrays and blood test it will be like $700 or so I said OK after that some of the staff came out and told me that it will be more and I said they just told me that it was going to be $700 I said I dont have more she said we are going to keep on your budget and do what we can do, after paying $700 they told he will need surgery and it would've between 8-10k for the surgery, plus to be hospitalized was almost 2k and the doctor got upset when I told her that I was going to discuss with my husband because it was pricey doctor told me you need to make a decision because he been suffering for hours I told her I will call in 5 mts. After calling to 2 hospitals in Raleigh I needed a referral from them take him and I told her I was going to think about. After our decision to him down and they called me to check what was my arrival time and as soon I got there I called to let them know I was there. I got here sign some papers and I've been waiting here for 1.5 hours and I had to call them because how much longer it was going to take and they put me on hold and I talked to the doctor and she said sorry about the delay I was trying to make sure that if I wanted to put him down and she was talking about how he's been suffering for hours and then we I told her about the decision and they hadn't done it yet (If I wouldn't call I been waiting more time on their parking lot so disappointed and sad) I've been waiting for so long I'm really disappointed because they asked me at what time I arrival and asked me for the payment. I seem they care more about the payment no really about the pets. The staff was friendly and they answered all my questions the only issue for me was the doctor.

Go somewhere else, just a money grab scam at you and your pet’s expense, they are good at scaring you into paying alot of money for unnecessary stuff and they will let your pet die before they do anything without getting paid first.

My dog suffered bite wounds & was not putting pressure on his leg. As a lab who is EXTREMELY anxious & prone to seizures in stressful/frightening situations - I was concerned to leave him here after being attacked by another dog.I have never seen him so calm and content after leaving the vet (especially under the circumstances). I can’t thank you all enough for taking care of my sweet Forrest.

Came and brought A beautiful, orange and white cat to get its arm fixed from a injury notified the staff of the situation for this beautiful cat when I pulled up to the veterinarian hospital everything seemed to go well then the staff member savagely grabbed this Injured cat aggressively Knowing the cat was injured and afraid, threw it up in the air, and the cat fell on the ground and ran off ! In disbelief, I walked up and asked the staff member. Why did she grab the cat like that in such a manner knowing that it was startle it and caused it to become more injured and she simply said, can I sign some paperwork and They will call me if they find the cat The staff went to look for the cat. It’s nowhere to be found then the staff member by the name of Elizabeth hounded me down to sign paperwork and was forcing me to sign paperwork. I kept telling her I did not want to sign any paperwork, and they had lost the cat, and there was no point in me signing paperwork, and she rudely forced the clipboard in front of my faith and kept mentioning The same statement what is my address? What is my address after I told her multiple times I did not want to talk to her being so upset that how The staff member handled an injured animal there was no integrity. There was no dignity for me as cat lover or respect not only was I crying and upset that they lost this beautiful orange and white cat that I was ready to adopt. I just needed to get his arm fixed and I went out my way at 9:00 PM to go and get him help and they treated this animal, poorly and unjustified, and as a person treated me like trash do not bring your animal here.

The dog pictured is Kubrick, the smartest dog I've ever owned, a dog that was full of love and admiration for his human companion, Forest. One day, he started showing signs of pain and discomfort. I gave him canine pain medication, but it didn't seem to do much to ease the pain, The next day after seeing that he hadn't improved, I decided to take him to a vet, but was disappointed when I couldn't find one open on a Saturday afternoon. I let him and our other dog out to go potty while I researched more and tried to figure out what to do next. I went back outside to let the dogs both in, but only one came running to me. Kubrick was nowhere to be seen even after calling him. We went searching for him and eventually found him hiding in the darkest place he could have found underneath the house. He was acting completely unlike himself. He had a thousand-yard stare and didn't make a sound as he tried his best to respond to us with his body and ears. My heart sank. We rushed him to Happy Tails as fast as we could. Kubrick was still able to perk up his ears when he heard the things that he loved the most in his life, like "car ride" and "Forest". Forest sat in the passenger seat and held Kubrick in his arms. A sense of calmness and relaxation fell over Kubrick as he smelled the air coming through the window, another one of the simple pleasures of his life. The moment we arrived and rushed in the door, the team at Happy Tails worked urgently to understand what the issue may be and what to do for him. We suspected he was in severe pain as the medical team did, so he was sedated with painkillers while X-rays were performed and a diagnosis could be made. Unfortunately shortly thereafter he fell into a coma. The team attempted life-saving and sustaining care for him even after he lost the ability to breath on his own, but despite their best efforts, it soon became clear he was not going to be able to come back. The team did an amazing job at keeping us informed about his treatment throughout the day, allowed us to make decisions about his treatment when appropriate, and how exactly we wanted to say goodbye. It was clear that the team did absolutely everything they could for Kubrick, and I can't thank them enough for that. Although they had only met Kubrick in the most dire moments of his life, they treated him and his human family like they had known Kubrick for his whole life. Working in an emergency veterinary clinic must be one of the toughest jobs I can imagine for many reasons. I couldn't have asked for a more compassionate and caring team to be there for Kubrick. If Kubrick were still here, I'm certain he would have thanked you too.

Had a great experience with Happy Tails Veterinary Emergency Clinic! The entire staff was helpful, kind and caring. A little pricey, but for an emergency vet, it does makes sense. I highly recommend!!

So thankful for everyone at Happy Tails. From the initial call, to getting our fur baby quick attention, to the follow up and care, the team at Happy Tails were great. Sasha had been attacked by two larger dogs and they got her on the road to recovery quickly. So thankful for the team and happy to say that Sasha has made a full recovery thanks to the amazing care she received at Happy Tails! Thank you so much!!

I am not one to discredit or shame a business publicly, however happy tails has completely disappointed me and put my cats health/life at risk by delaying care and completely missing a diagnosis and telling me my cat had nothing wrong with him. I took my male cat in to happy tails on 12/21 per my vets recommendation since it was after hours. He was showing concerning signs of potential urinary blockage/crystals in his urine. Straining in the liter box and on the floor only able to get small quarter sized amounts of urine out with obvious frank blood. I am very fortunate to have a sister who is a wondering vet tech who specializes in cats and works along side my cats primary veterinarian. My sister who is co-owner to the cat did all the communication with happy tails since she has the clinical knowledge and can communicate more effectively what was going on with our cat. To my complete surprise throughout the night and the last phone call I made in the morning, he appeared to be completely normal. All labs and diagnostics came back within normal limits and I was informed he had no signs of a urinary blockage or crystals. I reiterated again to the vet at happy tails my observations and symptoms he was experiencing the night before and I asked how is that possible and is this a normal occurrence in cats to have these symptoms and be completely fine? The vet essentially said she didn’t know and just reiterated the fact that based off of their testing and assessment, there were no abnormalities at all and he was fine to go home. Fortunately after discussing with my sister what I was told, she took the liberty to pick him up and take him to her vet clinic to redo all labs and imaging. To our shock, our poor cat in fact has tons of crystals in his urine and his bladder on ultrasound was a “snow globe” of crystals. How did happy tails completely miss all of this and mislead me to think he was perfectly fine. So due to happy tails major mistakes, my cat had a major delay in care and put his life completely at risk. To add to it, a complete waste of money to mislead me. I don’t know who runs this place or owns it, but my sister and I will be in contact with management/leadership to discuss all of this further. I am still in shock as to how a self proclaimed “kind and knowledgeable team” missed this and put my cats life at risk. I would not recommend this place to anyone and I will never be returning with any of my pets.

Um not factually incorrect or i wouldnt have written it.No explanation needed just look at the other reviews. You are rude.More concerned with money than treatment of patient and you nearly killed my dog by sending me away before you got his seizures under control, simply because you needed to close on time. Must be nice to make 400 to 500 for less than an hour of work. I guess I'm different emergency should mean staying if needed not sending a poor little animal down the road still squalling and convulsing. My user name is just as valid as your business name and has been so since Google started. They really need to make zero stars an option.

My girl dog, amy was very ill, we didnt know what was wrong with her. We tried everything, veterinarians, internet remedies, specialists, and nothing, no answers. When the time came, we saw her struggling, we decided to go to happy tails, where they met with her. They allowed us to be with her in her final amount of time, gave us treats and sweets to give to her. They offered to give us her ashes or special paw prints made in clay, free of charge. But we instead decided it was best to take her home and bury her. They understood and put her gently within a biodegradable box in the blanket we brought her in, along with some toys. We would like to personally thank Amilia, Elizabeth and Dr.Gebhardt, these three were the best trained and were very considerate in her time of need. Thank you three

My wife and I brought our cat to happy tails who had a urinary blockage. He was in bad shape but the veterinarian and techs took really good care of him while he was there. Now he’s better and back with us.
