came here with a friend to surrender two strays we found that were being tormented by kids in the neighborhood. front staff would not take my friend seriously until he started to get upset, because of the nature of the circumstances leading to the cats falling in his care. he had to beg the front staff to be compassionate and let us in.once let in, theres a small area where you sit to fill out paperwork. as he was filling out this paperwork, the window to the main lobby was open. i dont think the staff realized this, because we got to listen to your staff make fun of his distress, misgender him, and overall just be unkind about the situation. so disappointed with how apathetic they were.my friend has had to surrender strays before and on our way he had a lot of praise for this place. he expressed how kind your staff has been, how well the animals are treated, and how seriously you take situations like this one. this experience let him down. for me, this was a grotesquely awful first impression.

I first just want to say that I do not live in Guilford county. However after finding their adoption center online I made the drive. I have visited and researched a lot of places and this facility was amazing. I adopted my new family member and best friend this past weekend from them and the experience and atmosphere was amazing. All the pets I saw during our visit seemed to be happy and most importantly healthy. I have fallen in love with my rescue because he has rescued me. The staff at this shelter treated myself and my disabled mother with the best of care and respect. I will recommend them to any one I know that is looking to adopt a best friend. Thank you again for you service!

Went to adopt a cat and walked out in the same day with the perfect one for us. He’s such a cute furry baby. He is in really good condition might have worms but that’s nothing we can’t fix.

We were there today and adopted Tuffy (Maltese mix) and he was so scared and shaking. We got him home, bathed him, fed him, took him out to the bathroom. Got him a new tag, sweatshirt, collar, bed, bowls , treats and he’s so happy now no more shaking and he even is fine with our spoiled cat. This facility was just wonderful. The entire staff! Thank you for our new fur baby! Angela

I only went online, they have a variety of cats and dogs. I suggest if you are missing either you go to the shelter with a picture of your pet. Especially if it is Young!!! A puppy, will go fast. I can't speak for this shelter in particular, however generally speaking they do not like to put puppies in a shelter if it can be helped. I was at another shelter where they kept the puppy right at the front desk immediately after it came in. They didn't want to traumatize it any more than it had been. That puppy is now mine.

Very nice facility, glad they were able to accept the stray we found. However, not the most friendliest staff at the reception for strays. The receptionist at the main adoption center desk was very friendly however. Would just would like a little more compassion and kindness , especially in an environment that revolves such emotions for clients

I am so sad and extremely exhausted right now I literally went to go pick up Uma this pass Friday I was super excited to bring her home with me but once she got here everything changed .This poor baby will not stop vommiting she hasn’t ate but one time since she has been in my care and that was the meal I put the pill in the day after I got her all she seems to want is water she keeps gasping for air and has very loose bowel I’ve been cleaning up throw up and diarrhea since I picked her up I haven’t had a chance to actually enjoy my dog and it sucks I will be returning her because there is definitely something wrong with her health wise she has something because even I am sick everything feels swollen on me and I didnt feel like this before picking her up I’m going to miss her so much

The employees who work here have no idea what's going on. Called about a dog our family was highly interested in and was told he was placed on a 72 hour hold. Wouldn't be available for adoption until Monday and that we could come in today Monday morning at 9am to see the dog. Keep in mind I live in Lexington so this is a good 45 minute drive. The shelter doesn't even open on Monday till noon. Somehow the dog was adopted on Saturday which we were told COULD NOT HAPPEN bc of a 72 hour hold. By all means I'm happy for the dog but get your employees all on the same page.

My experiences with this place is always positive. They are helpful and very nice in this Animal Shelter. Please know that they do the best that they can and most of the time have more animals than they can house. It falls on the staff to make the hard decisions on who to send to the rainbow bridge. If you have animals that are docile and social, please try to re-home them first. Call and see if you can get help with pet care costs. They granted me a voucher to get my kitten fixed because she was a stray that I decided to keep. Also, try to get your pet fixed so that their babies don't HAVE to go to a shelter.Sending love out to pet owners and definitely those who work to rescue and care for the unloved.

After having a friend bring home a dog with parvo from the Guilford County Animal Shelter which spread to our other dog, we became really cautious about going there seeing as how they assured me that they have their dogs checked by veterinarians before adopting them. It seemed kind of sketchy to me.Anyway, my friend and I kept going to the Guilford County Animal Shelter trying to find a dog that would work with our needs, and they seemed nice towards us until today when they told us that we were put on their “Do not adopt” list for reasons that we did not realize that one could be put on a “Do not adopt” list. They never gave us a warning. They never explained this list to us. They just expected us to know the qualifications for being placed on this list. I guess that they just figured that everyone is psychic and should know these things. This final experience was the last straw when it came to our ever going to the animal shelter again. I mean, we were more than gracious with them. We were more than gracious with them, and they basically spit in our faces. Not only will we not be going back to an animal shelter, but we will encourage others not to adopt from them either. I have no qualms with doing so either.
