I donate platelets. I started doing this as 7 years ago I had to get blood after surgery. I enjoy giving blood back now. It is very clean there. The staff is great. I can help to save someone else with my blood.

It has taken me a while to get to this review because I was so disappointed and deeply traumatized after the experience I had with this "business", not Im sure about the facility much but the staff (mainly one of them) and the "service" or relief that they called themselves offering to myself an my children was horrible. The experience I had was so degrading and disappointing. They started off seemingly like they would help in a major way. I had a large amount of damage done to my house due to an unexpected fire. It would take a while for the repairs to be done. They didn't offer much for myself and my children to be able to stay at a decent hotel for more than a day or two. They also didn't offer help with moving expenses while the repairs were being done.. I believe her name is Susan, she kept telling me, (the distraught at the time) client, that they operated off of the donated dollar and yadda yadda yadda .. things that during this time should not be shared with the person that going through a difficult time. My damages occurred in 2015, it took me almost four years to write a review, I am still deeply affected and upset about the whole experience. Susan was not compassionate by far. I had just had a new born, my baby was less than 2 weeks old and she did not care whether or not we had sufficient shelter during our time of need. My place was deemed unlivable by her staff and she still jad little to no consideration. I know people that have donated here (military vets that fought for and protected this so called country) and they would be appalled at the treatment that some receive when they go for relief. I could explain in very in depth and thorough detail but, I'd write a book, so I'll stop here ..but it still bothers me deeply when I think of the treatment and "relief" I received.

I have been donating blood on and off at the Yanceyville American Red Cross location for some years now. The staff is very nice and good to their donors. I know fear of needles or passing out is what keeps a lot of people from donating. But the staff here is very well trained and professional, at least for me they have always gotten the needle in with ease. My husband has gotten a little lightheaded sometimes when donating, but the staff has always been impressive in how they handle the situation and get the donation back on track. I highly recommend making an appointment before you come as you get priority for service. You can also complete their "Rapid pass "online (which is all the required health history questions to determine donation eligibility) before coming in to speed up the donation process. If not, you must do all this onsite. A nurse will check your iron level, blood pressure and a few other items to ensure you are healthy to donate. Provided all this checks out, it's time to donate. They have TV's available to watch to distract, but I just look at my phone or talk with the others who came with me to donate. The actual donation process is maybe around 10 minutes. I am not going to say donating blood is the most enjoyable thing in the world, but it's honestly not bad and such an easy way to give back to your community. After you donate, they recommend you stay for about 15 minutes for refreshment and recovery. They have lots of yummy snacks and drinks to choose from to enjoy. There is usually also some kind of gift incentive to get people to donate/as a thank you from t-shirts, movie tickets, small gift cards, etc. This time it was a huge Hershey's candy bar. I would donate anyway as I understand how important it is (I am an O+), but it's a nice gesture. Chances are you know someone who has needed to receive blood, or you have yourself. Check the American Red Cross website to see if you are eligible to donate, and if you are please go!

If I could give no stars, that would be the more appropriate “star” rating. Terrible attitudes and unfriendly staff to the people who are donating not only their product, but also their time. Also, it’s the only place where you can give blood in a room of other strangers next to you, but people you know are not allowed to talk to or be next to you without being threatened with a $10,000 fine for doing so claiming a confidentiality breech although authorized by the donor. I’d take my donations to a different provider.

Saving lives has never been so easy! In at 6pm for my 6:30pm appointment. Out at 6:40pm living and loving life again. I always enjoy meeting the volunteers and the donors who give freely to this worthy cause. Extra bonus tonight with the Nutter Butter cookies

Nice facility but it has a serious health hazard in the restroom. It is unsafe to leave a can of disinfectant spray in the restroom for the public to use during business hours. Someone should read the MSDS. I used to work in allied healthcare. The sprays are an eye and respiratory irritant, can cause dizziness, trigger migraines, and are especially dangerous for people with copd and asthma. Even spray residue on parent's clothing can cause a child in the car with them to have a asthma attack. Furthermore, these sprays only disinfect PRE CLEANED, hard, nonporous surfaces. A study at a French medical institution found that surviving c. diff. bacteria hat had been exposed to these kinds of sprays regrow a new colony of bacteria that are over 30 times more resistant to the spray and over 200 times more resistant to antibiotics given to humans. These sprays should not be in a public restroom, especially one in a place promoting good health practices and safety.

I visited this location to complete the Adult and Pediatric CPR, First Aid and AED class to re-up my certifications. Had I known what I was in for, I would have gotten it at another agency. Attendees should really receive something tangible other than a small kit that contains gloves, gauze and the mouth shield that will be used in the actual training. Including the Quick Reference Card with class registration would be an awesome upgrade, especially if the attendee ends up with an instructor like mine, who tried to call me out for taking certain notes on my phone for "in the moment" quick reference but NEVER said a word to a younger gentleman who was taking notes on his iPad throughout the two sessions he attended. Since I did the full monty, I was there for all three sessions. Our instructor literally spent most of the morning going through the background of CPR, talking over the video at times, didn't have the presentation on Presentation mode 80% of the time and interjecting waaaay too many personal experiences. We had very little time to go through the exercises with her very well broken in (too well, I had bruises from conducting my exercises) mannequins. I personally do not feel enough time is factored in for the first aid portion of the course. All in all, I was vastly underwhelmed.
