“I stopped here this morning hoping to get a few crackers or something to snack on. It was closed…as I should have expected on a Sunday morning, but as I walked back to my car a man came out of the house next door and asked if he could help me. I couldn’t believe it when he offered to open up and let me buy some items since he was clearly headed to the church across the road. His name was Gray (?) son of the owners. I felt like I was blessed being able to chat a few minutes with him, gather up some snacks and real bottled Coca-cola and pet the friendliest cat, Big Momma, I left with the biggest smile on my face and feeling as if I had just experienced a rare moment in life in a place I will never forget and it all was so unexpected. The kindness I was shown and true friendly connection I made has kept me smiling all day! I can’t wait to travel through again and stop at Thomas Grocery. It is special!!”
“It's been a while since I'd been to Gateway but had somethings to do in town and figured I'd stop and check it out since the change of ownership. I've always liked Gateway I thought they stayed well stocked but seems like the current owners has added more grocery items. The Crispy Chicken is a welcomed surprise also. The store was very clean and I was able to find everything I needed. The staff is very friendly and I'm sure at times the get swamped. But welcome to home town grocery stores, they will always hold something special”

If anyone has any complaints about the business or employees I sure want to know. We have plenty of vapes, good pizza, wings, chicken bites. “Great place to get the items you forgot at supermarket or too tired to drive i to spruce pine. They carry a great variety of essentials including cat food and treats ,motor oil ,soda,eggs etc only 3 minute drive or less.”

“The store over here in newdale is always stopped the people in there very courteous friendly I can get in there and get out with what I need no problems too bad the Spruce Pine stores aren't like that the one up near Hardee's in Spruce Pine is okay but the one on grassy Creek needs a manager that knows what he's doing!!! ?”
“Decent store. Has just about anything you might need in a hurry that you can't get to Walmart for. Sometimes a bit disorganized, so don't commit item locations to memory as they are often rearranging the store.”
“Get what I need get in and get out very easy and got a lot of selection kind of like Ingles but not and some things they are cheaper on and some things that are more expensive on.”
“The chicken is great. You have to try they're biscuits when you go! Me and the wife have stopped several times just to buy some biscuits to snack on. Overall the store is very clean and they have a decent coffee station and condiment counter.”
“For the most part, it's a good place to shop. Lack of competition in some rural areas mean prices are a bit higher at times than other places. Room to grow where the app is concerned. Search results for items are all over the place sometimes, bordering on nonsensical, bringing up completely unrelated products.”

“Stopped in on a motorcycle ride, ordered a double bacon cheese burger.... Wow!!! What a great hand made burger! Perfectly messy and the taste was unbelievably good. The girl making it all happen was a delight and never missed a thing on my order. I will be back again for sure”
