Based on the 4.5 star reviews we read prior to purchasing our car, we had expected Matthews Motors to be a honest, trustworthy business. Unfortunately, the only “good” we received from was a free home delivery option, which ended in regret.
Car was delivered Friday morning in a rain storm, so we didn’t notice the 2 nice sized chips on the windshield. We reached out the next day about the chips and were told the chips had been filled and “shouldn’t” spread. The 2nd day having the car we felt excessive vibration while going 45-50 mph. We took it to the tire shop to see if balancing the tires would fix the issue. After we described the symptoms, a road test was performed, and both front tires failed and needed to be replaced.
We have bought many, many cars in our time and have never had to come out of pocket for repairs in the same week, especially after spending 30k. Tires were $500, and new windshield is over $900.
We have called and emailed dealership multiple times and received no call back. We’re disappointed to say the least. I think it’s fair to say Matthews Motors is greedy and sells preowned cars that have not been properly inspected and repaired. This car was listed as certified, meaning thoroughly inspected and repaired to meet quality standards, which they failed to do. We highly suggest you shop elsewhere for your next car and save yourself the worry and hassle of buying a car in need of repairs.

I came in to Matthews Motors with no vehicle and desperately needing one, and left with an awesome awesome one. The staff was very friendly and made me feel right at home. They did everything they could to get me into this new vehicle. The vehicle was unbelievable the interior was like brand new and not a scratch on the outside. Their service team was very thorough when they serviced the vehicle. I definitely would recommend them if you are in need of a vehicle or just want to trade in. Great company, great people, I can't say enough. Thank you again for everything.

Shane from Matthews Goldsboro, is so fantastic. Even after you buy the car, he checks up on you. I recommend him!!!! I will take more customers to him! Staff is great. I hope this car fits me well. I love it!

I recently purchased a 2017 Chrysler 300 from this dealership in June 2024. I would warn against purchasing from them without having a mechanic assess the vehicle. Within 3 days of purchasing the vehicle the Check Engine light came on. Within 2 weeks the Apple CarPLay works inconsistently, now one month later the A/C on the driver's side blows hot. I traveled from Myrtle Beach, SC to purchase this vehicle and it was a huge waste of my time. This vehicle has been nothing but a disappointment since purchase. Do your homework! Some of the salesmen have difficulty understanding English and the sales office is a cramped, sweaty, and loud trailer. Awful guest aesthetic and odor lingered in the air. I will not recommend this dealership moving forward. I am sorely disappointed with my vehicle purchase. Some of the salesmen had a difficult time understanding my questions about the vehicle because of the language barrier. As far as I'm concerned, North Carolina can keep Matthews. Lastly, their business office had a terrible, long delayed time getting my SC tags. I drove with a temp tag for 8 weeks!

Buying a car from Matthew's Motors in Goldboro was a very pleasant experience. From start to finish not only was the process easy, I never felt pressured to purchase my car. The staff assisted me with patience and care. Patrick was very helpful and I love his sense of humor! My car is absolutely perfect for me! Awesome team and place to get a vehicle. From my first phone call to Cali and salesman Patrick White the whole process was smooth and efficient. I was impressed with Patrick and how he doesn't pressure you like big dealerships do. Kudos to the finance manager too, for his professionalism and efficiency! Overall, great experience.

My daughter was looking around trying to find her a car and wasn't having much luck, so I told her to try Matthew Motors of Goldsboro and she did. I was amazed at how they jumped on in to help her. She called on Wednesday requiring about a car and on Thursday she was driving off the lot with her car and this was her very FIRST CAR, so I would definitely give them 5 stars. I can't speak for everyone but I'm speaking for my daughter and I!!! THANK YOU JESUS and THANK YOU MATTHEW MOTOR OF GOLDSBORO for making my daughter birthday a special one!!!!!
