Very creative - very challenging - but Dana was very helpful and friendly - worth the trip off the beaten path - wish the village/stores were open!
Back Street Mercantile is a unique gift shop in the Historic Village of Gold Hill. Apparel, unique gifts and toys for everyone in the family, gourmet popcorn, orangeade and wood-fire pizza during events; we even have an escape room in the back half of our store; Escape from the Haunted Mine. We created this escape room/haunted house/shooting gallery to coincide with some of the folklore that you will hear when visiting the Village of Gold Hill, NC. This 1800's gold mining town still contains several of the old mine shafts and original powder house, as well as an abundance of ghost stories about the many miners who lost their lives here.
