Took over an hour to get the desk to talk to someone to find out that they don’t have our car for our reservation. After looking at other reviews how do hertz keep getting away with this. I would give a negative star if I could. Hire more people, get more cars! How did hertz buy dollar and thrifty only to not be able to provide the service they offer.

We had a van rental reserved for 12. After waiting in line until 1245 we were told that they had no minivans available and that it would 40 more minutes. They offered $120 in compensation. Which was, at that point, we thought reasonable.When we asked why our reservation hadn’t been honored we were rudely asked “had we seen the line?” that we had just waited in.After waiting another hour and inquiring again, we were given a key and we went downstairs. As soon as we opened the vehicle we smelled smoke. When we asked about it they said they knew there was a smoke smell in the vehicle but that it was hard to get out and that “some people would have accepted it”. We asked if this smell was documented anywhere and we’re told “no”. At this point we asked to speak to a manager and were told she wouldn’t speak with us and that they didn’t know where she was.The agents told us to leave with the new car without a modified rental contract, which would have left us with no proof that we had legal rights to be in the car if we were pulled over. We spent the next 40 minutes waiting for someone who had the access rights to change the rental contract. 3 hours after our reservation we were finally given a car.I should mention that we are traveling with our 7 month old and that I was a breastfeeding mother with no access to food in the airport;Three hours was not an inconsequential amount of time.When we asked for further compensation for the additional 1.5 hour (3 hour total) wait and the attempt to give us a smoky car with our infant, we were told that was not possible. And again that the manager was not on site. We were also told that the manager would call us, which she did not do.

My transaction was smooth. The person at the counter was courteous. The vehicle I got worked wonderful. The return procedure was smooth. Overall a very satisfactory experience.

Hertz bought dollar and thrifty and then had the bright idea to have reservations for all three companies being taken care of by a single overworked representative. I, and everyone else here had to wait nearly 2 hours to get a car. Not a good experience!

I was in an automobile accident. The other driver was at fault so his insurance company had to rent me a car through Hertz. I had to pay the deposit and have never gotten my deposit back. I have called the office many times and each time the person I've spoken to is unable to tell me why I haven't received the deposit back. Each time they would take my name and number and say they were going to have their manager call me back. I've never received a call back. The last person I spoke to told me to call the customer service number which I did. The first time I left a voicemail and never received a return call. The second time the mailbox was full.I then sent an email and now waiting for a response.

This place should be ashamed of themselves! They put my 70 and 80 year old parents in a truck with no treds on two front tires!! Then, we called and called and nobody answered!! DO NOT RENT HERE THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR SAFETY !!!

I recently rented a car at the Ashville North Carolina Airport location. My reservation was with Thrifty, but there was a sign saying Hertz was handling reservations for Thrifty. At the Hertz rental desk, there was a problem with my reservation and initially, it looked like our family vacation was ruined as all the cars were completely sold out at the location. Then, our angel, Lyndsey, of Hertz, came to our rescue. She found a way to make the reservation go through, and we were on our way. I am thankful that Lyndsey was willing to take the extra time and effort to help us!

Dear Hertz, PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE LACK OF PERSONNEL AT ASHEVILLE AIRPORT.I'm a Gold Plus member and had to wait in a line that stretched past the baggage carousels because there was only one agent working the counter. It took 30 minutes in line and 30 seconds at the counter for the agent to look up my reservation and hand me keys to the car, which were on the counter. I wasn't even at the counter for more than one minute but had to wait in a line for 30 minutes. No Gold Plus line. No Gold Plus sign. WTF?!The only reasons for two stars instead of one are because the agent was very nice and my car was super cool.

Worst set up ever, one agent, no Gold line... The line hasn't moved in a half hour, it's enlightening to make you scream!

Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had renting a vehicle. I booked for 7am. I arrived at 7am. The Dollar rental counter had a sign that said to go to the Hertz counter. The Hertz counter had lights on, door open but no one was there. I asked the other agencies where they might be after waiting 25 minutes. They suggested possibly the garage. I had important appointments so I went to the garage to find them. Unsuccessful, I returned to the counter hoping someone would be there. At 8 am I once again tried the garage and employees of other agencies told me where to look...and wait and what the employees of Hertz looked like. I went there, waited and finally a car came up behind me and honked their horn. In it were two young males, obviously having social fun, who were the Hertz employees. It was now 8:20 am. I told them I needed help and they had a strongly disrespectful attitude. I went back to the counter and waited. Apparently, they waited in the garage until a supervisor could arrive. She told me they were cleaning my vehicle. Finally, a car arrived outside. It was badly damaged with dents and scratches all along the right side. Having NO choice, because of lost time, I got into the vehicle and it REAKED of drugs. BAD, BAD, BAD experience. The entire weekend I could not get rid of the smell. BAD experience...worse part...the employees of Hertz and their extremely BAD attitude. By the time I left, it was 9 am...2 hours late, making me miss my appointments. BAD.

Wow. Arrived in Asheville to learn that, even though we had a reservation, Hertz didn't have any cars. Budget, however, saved the day and got us a car. Hertz is the worst.

Price was lower than I'd expected, as I got a good rate for 7-day rental of minivan. People were helpful and friendly. The suggestion to check back with them 2 days before pickup to ensure availability did not imbue confidence. I'm glad I did, though, because as of the afternoon before scheduled pickup, they had no minivan on lot or expecting to be available, and only because I had stopped by, then followed up with phone call, did they make phone calls to airport location to make a vehicle swap. The inside of the windshield was not clean, making driving directly into late afternoon sun dangerous. The minivan was comfortable and fully-featured.
