The easiest way to spot profiling is to be the only ones in the store. I went into the store around five this evening with my daughter. We were the only ones there, and wherever we went, she was there. Before I left, I decided to rest my theory by walking to the opposite side of the store. She followed. I then went to the next aisle, and she followed us. When I went to the middle aisle, she walked to the table in front of the aisle and pretended to be straightening show boxes there. When I looked in her direction, she walked toward me and asked, "Did you find anything?" I then asked if people often took items from the store, and she asked why. I informed her of her following us, and she replied something along the lines of, "No, I was just straightening things, and if I don't, I'll never go home on time."
In this situation, one cannot really blame the employee. From reading the reviews, this type of behavior seems to be acceptable, required and/or expected.
Update:
The manager or owner of the store finally responded back to me today. Although I do thank him for looking into the situation, he provided a second excuse. Instead of cleaning, his belief is that it is because she wouldn't be able to hear me if I needed anything. This was not told to me by the worker, and I still would have had to elevate my voice for her to hear me. However, I still appreciate the email that came in lieu of a call.

I love this store. Employee by the name of Tristan is the best. He went above and beyond to help me find the right shoes for my daughter. So if you want good quality and customer service stop by. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
