☹️They closed the two down in Lumberton NC where I live, now I have to come to Fayetteville. I work at Cape Fear Valley Hospital so it’s not a problem. My ONLY issue is the teller are not as friendly as those ladies were in Lumberton NC, but it may be because they don’t know me BUT STILL my money is in that bank?

I've been a customer of Carter Bank & Trust since 2015 and the staff are super, super nice. They're a small independent bank and originally they had 2 locations, one off of Country Club Drive and one in Green Street, but the Green Street branch has been closed since last year. The service is excellent, they have a young staff but they are very knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. I love how they make you feel very important, jus liked back in the days when people treat their customers right. Erica, the bank manager was super helpful and very friendly and understanding. She tries to relate to all her customers as if they are family. Tiffany is one the friendliest Clerk I've dealt with and just like Erica, she is helpful and friendly. I love how they all know their customers by their names and as soon as you walk in or drive up the drive through window, they know you and have that caring and friendly demeanor. Yes, they're a smaller bank, but at least I know I'm treated well, and that my money has a great way of growing with great incentives they have...like their Christmas Club program. Great bank with a BIG way of showing that they might be small, but they care and work for their customers well!!!

Sadly, Carter Bank and Trust (and its legal counsel) hung me up for a year following the sudden tragic death of my Aunt. They requested every form of ID, Tax ID for a Trust, Death certificate, K1, you name it... and then reneged on allowing the account - WHICH IS IN MY ACTUAL NAME - to be accessed. At first an assistant VP said "we can do it" and then she reverted to putting the onus on me for becoming frustrated with the process when she changed her mind. This woman has since been "let go." Assistant VP number two, a year later, did the same song and dance - refusing to allow encrypted emails - requesting everything from my California Driver's license "front and back" to extremely sensitive info, from my SSN to Tax ID for Trust reflected by this so-called Trustee Account (which really has no legal footing in a court of law). Whilst I am forced to pay out of pocket expenses for two years now, that this account was designed to cover? CBT has been sitting on my money, sending checks to wrong addresses, conflating their story, and comporting themselves as gatekeepers, who have zero compassion or interest in us.

I opened an account with People's Bank 13 years ago and had no problems till they merged with Carter Bank. I closed my account after too many bad customer service experiences.
