I just had two flat tires this week, and desperately needed a new set. This elderly gentleman only charged me $480 for a brand new set of tires (mounting and balance included) for my Honda Civic. The service was what I expected, and I didn’t have to wait long. Everywhere else will charge you $1k or more and try to scam you into paying more money because you’re a woman or they assume you’re a transplant. This gentleman was a fine example of how us Appalachians should always run their businesses—with honesty and proficiency.

Had a tire replaced and the guy pumped it up to the max on the tire sidewall, which is way over the recommended number for the car listed on the doorframe. Then he argued with me claiming that the sidewall max was the right number. Obviously does not know his business and is obnoxious as well. Not recommended,

I have been a customer of Fairview Tire in Fairview NC for over 20 years. The previous owner, Johnny L Buckner, was very skilled at balancing tires and finding good deals on American-made tires. Unfortunately, the new owner has hired mechanics of considerably less skill.I recently purchased 4 new Cooper tires and a 4-wheel alignment from Fairview Tire for my 2013 Volvo XC70. A few days later I finally got around to changing the brakes on the car. This is a routine job that I have done myself on all of my vehicles for the last 52 years. When I took the first wheel off to start replacing the brakes I found that the lug bolts had been grossly over tightened. They were so tight I had to use a large breaker bar to remove them. That was annoying but not a major problem. The problem was that one of the lug bolts had been stripped. The bolt had been ruined ($25) and the hub had been ruined ($284). total $309 not including labor. When I returned to Fairview Tire to complain the person in charge interrupted me and said “I can’t do nothin’ about that”. When I further explained that I had tested all of the lug bolts with a torque wrench and found they were all grossly over-torqued, I was interrupted again and told that Volvos were known for having their lug bolts self tighten. I said that may be true but it doesn’t happen in a few miles (less than 50 in this case). I tried to explain that I had had Volvos continuously since 1982 and I had done all of the tire rotation myself (that is way more than 100 tire rotations) and I have never seen the lug bolts self tighten. I was yelled at and told he had 40 years of experience working on cars and if I didn’t like it I could take my business elsewhere. I was shocked but I did not raise my voice and said “I guess you leave me no choice”. Fairview Tire still owes me lifetime tire rotation and the guarantee on the wheel alignment but I would be a fool to ever let them work on any of my cars again. I suggest that you-all should also take your business elsewhere.

Don’t bother trying to get an inspection here. Went 5 separate times, the inspector is either out to lunch, rolling in at 10, leaving early, or just never there.
