Situated in the eerie backdrop of Fair Bluff’s ghost town, this Sunoco gas station is a curious blend of past and present. The surroundings, with rows of quaint yet abandoned buildings, set a melancholic stage. However, once you pull into the station, you’re abruptly transported to a vivid slice of current country life. On my visit, I witnessed the rather unique sight of someone riding up on a lawn mower, a spontaneous parking lot fistfight, and the undeniable presence of the old rebel flag flying from several trucks. While it might not be for everyone, this Sunoco station offers a raw, unfiltered glimpse into a particular facet of Southern life.
