June 2023 by CAROLYN DAVIS
We stayed for a week in June 2023 at rental Knot A Care. The location was great, close to restaurants and the beach. However, the porch was under construction during our visit. The porch was not screened in and the dog doors were removed and lumber was stacked in the yard. We were not informed of the construction. The home was not clean to my standards, bugs in the floor, sand on the table and counters. We were disappointed in the home because of the issues with the porch and the yard.

For anyone who is looking for an annual or yearly rental, save your time and do not use Blue Water. My roommate and I rented an annual property and throughout the entire year I have never seen management quit like this one, or lack thereof. There has been several times over the year of renting through them that we encountered problems with the property which caused us to reach out to property management or someone else to help with the issues. At the beginning of the rental period, we were given a list of numbers to call for different reasons/requests/problems, including an "emergency" number. The problem is, when you go to contact someone no one answers or calls you back, you are simply ignored. When calling the main Atlantic Beach or Emerald Isle office, you are either transferred from person to person, put on hold longer than 30 minutes to hour or an automated system hangs up on you. When you call back to the main office they give you several other numbers of management for "direct" contact or their personal number, which most of the time goes straight to voicemail and if someone answers they are unable to help or I "called the wrong number". AND instead of calling you back... they email you a response... which in my opinion is poor management and leads to dissatisfaction from renters. If I call you I expect a phone call back and I have complained about this issue several times, nothing has changed. I thought this was common sense but at Blue Water there is no such thing. Not only will they not call you back but the responses are delayed and most of the time it is after 48-36 hours. I want to make sure I am clear, this has not happened just one time but has happened EVERY SINGLE TIME I have ever needed to contact someone from Blue Water, urgent or not. For example, over the summer during the month of July the AC unit went out on our rental. I called the "emergency" number they gave me and was unable to even leave a voice message. I called up to both Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle locations and was promised a quick response. After waiting 24 hours for a response, I drove up to the closest office and was told no one had received my message but said it would be relayed to someone to come and fix. Another 24 hours went by, I called back up there was put on hold for 45 minutes and this cycle was repeated until finally someone came 5 days later. As you can imagine, in the middle of July our house got extremely hot and almost unbearable to be in.Customer service is ABSENT in this company. From the disregards of your complaints, promptness of responding, negative attitudes and overall respect, I have surely never seen anything like this, especially from a rental/ real estate company that needs to thrive from positive reviews, referrals and experiences. My mother in law also had a annual/yearly rental with Blue Water and was treated the exact same way. So make no mistake, this is not uncommon. Andrea Wiley is very rude and unprofessional. I complained time and time again, as she is the main point of contact for annual rentals. Every time we needed to reach out, it was like pulling teeth, not to mention every time you call up to her office she is conveniently "out of the office" to speak with over then phone and instead of calling you back directly, only sends emails. If someone cannot handle negative confrontation, they should not be the point of contact for such issues. Before our lease was up they had someone move into our rental without notifying us. We were we were told we would receive our deposit and prorated amount back by mail within 3-4 weeks of the last lease date. 4 weeks passed, I called up there and they said it had just been mailed out making it 5 weeks until i recieved the deposit back. We received the deposit back but no prorated amount for the days someone moved into our rental. I called up there and was told someone would call me back… 5 days later. I have yet received a phone call.

Rolling With the Tide was perfect for our family! We loved the open space of the house and the recent updates. Our favorite was the front porch with the rocking chairs and view of the ocean.

123 pinewood circle is full of black mold, BED BUGS, roaches, grimy furniture, smells terrible, old beds covered in bed bug splatter (No they do not have bed bug protectors on mattresses). Floors covered in crushed roaches, flies, spiders, sand, and sticky. THEY DIDNT CLEAN BETWEEN RENTERS. Even if they did, the house is not worth it. Please go with another company.

Don't use this company! The property we rented for the week, called Seacluded Treehouse, sadly was not renter ready. It was apparent no one had done the inspection before we arrived. There was a pile of leaves at the front door, and yard debris on the deck and steps. Patio furniture looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a year. The grill that was listed as an amenity was not there. After a text and then a phone call, the next day, someone did come by and roll a dirty, rusted charcoal grill out of the locked owners garage. My husband tried to clean it up, but cooking grate was nothing but rust. Call to Bluewater next morning and left detailed message, but no response from them. I called again the next day, and someone said they would bring over a grill. That never happened. I had already sent them pics of nasty grill, dirty deck furniture, and yard waste by door and on deck. When I got home I sent an email and asked for some sort of compensation. I was told that the owner had been contacted and would not be giving us any compensation. We did get a discounted rate, it was preseason and bookings on the house were wide open. Supposedly, owner said because they gave us a discounted rate for the week we should not expect anything for the issues we had. I said I didn't realize we would expect lesser treatment just because we got a preseason discount. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because of location and decent interior of house. Bluewater and the homeowner obviously is not interested in repeat renters and good reviews! Look somewhere else for your vacation rental!!

My wife and I brought our three kids and one extra to Emerald Isle for a Spring break week vacation. We rented a three bedroom condo A-204 at Pebble Beach condominiums. The whole week has been awful. We arrived on Sunday and unpacked, went to the store and bought a boatload of groceries for the week and everything seemed fine. What we didn't realize is that workers would begin hammering and sawing right outside our condo window first thing Monday morning. Not only did they do that , they knocked on the door, asked to come in and completely removed a window. Now we are eating breakfast with no window, workers staring at us into the condo from ladders, and no way for us to cover it up. After four emails and three phone calls i finally drove down to the office. They offered to move us but we had already unpacked and loaded the refrigerator with groceries so this seemed like a real pain in the butt. We stayed because they thought that the work would be done on Monday. Tuesday was better but then they were back Wednesday, Thursday, and now Friday morning with hammers and electric saws right beside the window again. To make things better, they never came to put the blinds back up to give us any privacy. So I called and asked them to come do that on Wednesday as well as look at the microwave that ran continuously and the air conditioner that didn't work. The guy came and put blinds up, promised to bring back a new microwave and said they would be replacing outside unit of air conditioner. It is now Friday and haven't heard a word back. Seeing how it's a holiday weekend I'm sure we are now just on our own for the next couple of days. We will not be renting from this company or at Pebble Beach any longer. The whole week has been a joke.

We've rented from Bluewater for years. Unfortunately, the last 3 rental homes have been disgusting! Carousel was the first disaster! Great price and fabulous location-should have known it was too good to be true. Huge hole in decking-like big enough for a person to fall through. Leaking appliances and roof. House is absolutely disgusting. A neighbor stopped by when we were leaving. He said the home is completely neglected yet still rents. Don't waste your money! We've stayed at two additional homes since then. Both meh. The latest, 6/2021, had half smoked cigarette butts on the dresser and under the bed...is that actually considered Covid 19 level clean??? How do you miss cleaning those as well as addressing the smoke smell in a non smoking home. Also this rental was in June when you would expect the homes to be in pretty good shape-not lots of wear and tear. This home had dirty blankets, broken appliances(which were fixed while we were there), hair in the shower...too much to dismiss as a random miss. Bluewater's attention to detail in their rentals has declined exponentially over the years. We love renting in EI but Bluewater will not be our go to rental company moving forward.

Do not rent from this company. Rented a house that was located at 123 Pinewood Circle Pine knoll shores NC. Aug 13th to the 20th 2021House was filthy was infested with cockroaches and spotted a Rat on the deck. Bluewater misrepresented the property on their website. Missing rails on deck, black mold was present throughout the property, particularly in the HVAC system. They claim it's not black mold but I would love to see the test results. However I am sure we will never see them. Additionally the house smelled of urine and the furniture was ripped and filthy. They claimed the owner was not willing to to refund us any money. The sad thing the owner is a medical doctor (Dr Richard Caswell) Bluewater gave us $1000 on a $5000 rental. I wanted a full refund but would of settled for $2500. Bluewater and the owner of this property have a total disregard for the health and safety of anyone who rents from them. I could list many more issues but I have wasted enough time dealing with this greedy company and property owner. By the way they continue to rent this dilapidated beach house, and is rented through the end of October. Be aware DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE!! You will be sorry.

These guys are great! My heat went out over the weekend and they contacted a repairman and sent heaters out to help until it is fixed. Thanks Nellie!05/10/21....I am so impressed. The home I live in is being sold. The Bluewater team ( Andrea, Nellie, and Penny) immediately went to work to find me a new place. They found one and are going out of their way to get it ready for me to move into.If you are in the area looking for a long term rental and Bluewater has properties available then these are the ones you should rent through. They are very professional and they take care of their tenants. Call and ask for anyone of these three awesome ladies. I couldn't imagine renting from anyone else. Thank you so much!!

House was nice and big. BUT! it was flooded with cockroaches and flies. Inside the house, on the deck near the pool, and garage.I have pictures to prove it. The property manager failed to keep these pests away, and when I contacted the company to call me to speak to me about it, they never returned my call or email. So here I am.Also, the glass that surrounds the pool deck was broken all over the place. Glass on the deck was very dangerous. We had small children and it was very dangerous for them, so we had to block off the huge gaps with beach chairs. If someone were to fall, it would be bad. They should fix this before renting out to others. I wish I would have known before renting the house , or else I would not have.
