Sorry but this place is an absolute dump. The place is falling apart and frankly the building should be razed. Prices on electronics such as camera equipment were also way to high based on the condition of the product when I was there. This location is a hard PASS. .

I tried working for them as a bell Ringer. Which you do get paid for it's not volunteer work. But all the donations that all the bell ringers get and all the donations that The Salvation Army gets it's only for their own personal gain they make sure that their bills and gas and their employees and everything that they need first before helping anyone that really needs the help which is not right all that money that people donate should go to people that really need it not to their bills and their employees that should come out of their own pockets not the donating money that people give to help needy family's and people

Don’t expect to go in after 3:45 because they are closed. They go by their clock. I work across the street and they regularly do business with them, even asked the driver what time they closed and left my job early to look for one thing. I was rudely told they were closed and they don’t go by any other clock but their own.

This review is well deserved, so I'm taking extra time to explain. I recently sold my parents' house in Camden, NC, as they have both passed on. For many years they both struggled with various and serious health concerns . It was very difficult to have to go through each and every item of theirs. When I got a buyer for the house, there were many items of furniture my son and I just couldn't keep. We got a storage unit to keep a lot, but we still found my parents had duplicates of many things that we weren't going to be able to keep. I rented a Uhaul truck, and I went to the Salvation Army there in Elizabeth City. It was very hard to see my parents' things on the showroom floor, but the manager there was SO helpful, heartwarming, and kind. She said I needn't worry or feel sad because the items I had given the store were going to help the community. Most of the money made there goes to true people with real needs. She explained that so many people benefit from their store and that it infuses so much help throughout the community -- including to local schools. I knew my dad gave there frequently, and because he had emailed me before he passed and said he knew items of his and mom's may need to be given away (he specifically mentioned Salvation Army) I felt my heart lighten. The manager reassured me and showed me around the store, letting me see that people were already interested in buying my dad's set of chairs. This meant I was seeing my parents' things (and indirectly their lives) spreading out to help their community. I also donated a hospital bed, and the manager even put that on the front porch of the store to show for those in need who may need one. It was hard enough to say goodbye to my parents, but this manager at this store has a heart of gold. She was considerate and kind to my son, my boyfriend, and myself-- and she had a crew help us unpack the uhaul. I'm grateful this process didn't feel like I was just dumping stuff off at their store like other places act. The manager was very grateful, thanked us kindly and profusely, and hugged me with real care when we left. She even gave us some rope to tie a few things left in our Uhaul! If you're looking for a place that will respect your items and send love out into those in need in the community, I highly recommend this individual Salvation Army. When you go, ask for the manager and you'll be greeted with such warmth and kindness. If I'm ever in Elizabeth City again, I'll certainly drop in and give them my business-- it's certainly a charity worth your time.
