It’s a clean and organized facility and the front-end reception staff were vey kind and professional. The only reason I am giving it a lower rating is because the DMV we ended up seeing was very aggressive in her tone, body-language, and demeanor. We were trying to ask questions and share information about our pet’s past health issues, and it felt more like she had to have the last word in edgewise than that she actually cared about the health outcome for our pet.The interaction just felt really upsetting at a time when we were already very worried. Also be aware a visit will cost at least 230 dollars just to be admitted and the wait time for stable animals is significant, around 3 hours for us. It’s normal for emergency care facilities, but just so you know in advance.

We ended up here with my darling cat after 6 days of not eating, 4 other “primary” vet visits and having a feeding tube placed. The ER doctor and Dr. Singer in internal medicine were so caring and compassionate. We were fortunate that we could afford to do diagnostic testing. They got my cat’s nausea under control and back to tolerating food enough to come home while we waited for the biopsy results. During this time we were emailing everyday with updates and any minor questions I had. Unfortunately, my cat does have cancer but the internal medicine team has continued to support us with starting chemo. The whole staff has been so pleasant and kind through this scary past month. I’m not sure if my cat would have survived much longer had we not been able to get this diagnosis. I am thankful for the team at TVRH for giving us more “good days” with my cat.

Last night our cat was suffering from high blood pressure and was in a hypertensive crisis. The whole staff was so kind and compassionate and helpful. They encouraged us to ask questions and spent the time to make sure we understood everything. They also not only worked to fix the problem, but also wanted to discuss what the underlying causes might be and what to look out for. We were pleasantly surprised when we felt super comfortable leaving our cat there to be treated overnight while we went home to rest and the staff encouraged us to call or check in at any point. Thank you so much to everyone who works here ❤️

I was hesitant to use their services given some of the reviews. While in my initial call to them in the evening the receptionist was cold and unhelpful, when I ended up calling later that night at 2:30am, they were much more responsive and helpful. I ended up bringing my kitty in for tummy issues and she had to stay for a few days to be monitored and examined for remaining stuff in her tummy. The overnight vet assistants were great and the doctors were very kind and informative. The only downside with the holiday weekend was there was no ultrasound tech which would have made the visit potentially much shorter and efficient. Overall satisfied and appreciative of their work.

My wife and I and our greyhound Red ended up here (a second time, came last year for a laceration to our other dog, Hollie, which was also a great experience in a stressful time) after Reds front leg randomly gave way during normal activity. Dr. Goodman was extremely kind and compassionate and laid out all possible options based on the diagnosis (severe spiral fracture caused by osteosarcoma). Unfortunately there was nothing that they or we could do for Red that would have offered him any type of quality of life (surgery, amputation, chemotherapy). She even requested additional X-rays and had a radiologist offer a second set of eyes. We made the heart wrenching choice to allow our sweet boy to rest. They arranged for us to visit with him both before and after as long as we needed, they handled the cremation, made us paw prints, and were generally just good humans to us and Red during a extremely tough transition. I’m not sure what more anyone can ask for in a time like that? To reply to others below, yes they asked us for payment upfront, which I think is totally fair considering the type of work they do and the emotional state most of us are in when we come to TVRH. While they are compassionate and knowledgeable in my experience they are running a business. We are all human and have tough days and make mistakes however TVRH has helped us out twice with our greyhounds and both times, while very different in outcome, I felt were handled professionally and to the best level of care that I can imagine asking for. They don’t have magic doctors or fix it all medication here, but a team of knowledgeable veterinary staff who genuinely care about both the humans and our four legged family members and that’s all anyone can fairly ask for.

Matthew Asciutto, DVM and the entire team at this location were incredibly professional, kind, and caring towards my dog and I. I was very distraught based on my dog’s situation and they took the time to explain everything including pricing, diagnosis differentials, and diagnostic test options/recommendations. I would highly recommend this practice for all of your pet’s emergent medical needs. Thank you again to the Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospital Team! I’m incredibly grateful for your care!

I can't begin to thank the vets and staff for their care of my Biscuit last week. Not only were the vets (who were on shifts) fully informed on Biscuit's condition, but the staff took extra special care of my boy. We were fortunate to find them in this emergency of acute toxic poisoning. They did all they could for four days. Their compassionate care of Biscuit during this time and at the end is much appreciated.

Last night our cat developed a urinary blockage. We brought him here, and the entire staff was so kind and gentle the entire time. Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to kitty, but we were given plenty of time to make our decision and say our goodbyes. The services aren't cheap, but honestly, I wouldn't expect them to be at any 24hr emergency vet hospital.Thank you for your kindness, patience, and compassion during his end of life transition. We've grieved an awful lot in the last 24 hours, but are relieved he's not in any more pain.

0 out of 5 stars if possible. My recommendation: go elsewhere. I’ll never trust this practice with any of my pets. I’d drive past this practice on my way to another practice to get quality care. Blue Pearl in Durham has limited hours but offers better, more personal, quality care and they have offices in Raleigh and Cary that are open 24/7.On Wednesday, we had to put our Chase down the day after he was discharged from here. In 2016, we had to put our Dottie down the day after she was refused care by this practice. We said we’d never go near this practice again but they were recommended because of the neurologist on staff so we gave them another chance but never again.Chase was seen twice at TVRH this week and both times, we were told he was ok to go home. Within 24 hours of his first visit at TVRH he was back after referral by a vet at VEG in Cary (who had previously worked at TVRH). When we arrived at TVRH, we waited for over 30 min with a sick dog even with a direct referral. When the tech finally came out, she apologized and said they had several emergent cases they were trying to take care of. I unknowingly rolled my eyes and the tech had the audacity to say “not that he’s not an emergency, I saw you ROLL YOUR EYES, but we can actually do something for the other animals”. This is the LAST thing anyone wants to hear. My sick dog was not their priority and they felt they couldn’t do anything for him because their job was to watch him until the neurologist could evaluate him. An hour after they had taken him to triage, we were still waiting with no news. During this time, we were left listening to the receptionists complain; they rolled their eyes, complained about callers, and gossiped about cases all within ear shot. We had to ask for an update and once put in a room we waited another 30 min to talk to the overnight vet (we’d been there for over 2 hours at this point). Our conversation with the overnight vet (Dr Goodman) felt extremely rushed, she told us they would monitor him and keep him comfortable and the neurologist would be in in the morning. When we asked about prophylactic care (based on experience with a bloodline relative of his with similar symptoms) and questioned need for MRI and spinal tap, the she said she was just a “ding-dong ER vet” compared to the “smarty-pants neurologist”. Chase stayed overnight and we were told we’d receive an update early Tuesday morning, but by that afternoon we hadn’t heard anything and called for an update. They put us on hold for several minutes while trying to locate Chase and eventually came back to say he was getting his MRI. Later we heard from the neurologist who had unconclusive news and said he could come home later or the next day. Tuesday evening, we went to pick up Chase. The tech went over the discharge papers, not only was the chief complaint wrong but also the discharge condition which said he was in good spirits and eating/drinking well. Chase was clearly far from that. He was still very drugged and not eating or drinking. They also mentioned giving him a medication we didn’t have a prescription for. The tech went back to confirm the instructions with the neurologist (Dr Warren) who was in a procedure and we were told the discharge instructions still had not been finalized but we could take Chase home. Wednesday, we contacted TVRH several times regarding his actual discharge instructions (to no avail) and increased neurological symptoms. We were told if the nystagmus was a concern, we would hear back from them, which we never did. Chase began showing signs of difficulty breathing and jaundice. We didn’t want him to suffer any longer and took him to Blue Pearl to get another opinion. They greeted us with empathy, kindness, and a caring attitude. In the end, we unfortunately had to let Chase go, he was too sick and we didn’t want him to suffer any longer. We trusted them and it will always be our biggest regret. If you care for your pet, PLEASE take them somewhere else. If they question any of this, their security footage can confirm it all.

Our experience here was unfortunate: Our beloved cat of 13 years had to be put down unexpectedly. As traumatic as this was, they made the it significantly worse. Besides wanting to settle the bill while our cat was suffering, it took them more then two hours to actually let us see her to say our goodbyes. We could hear her crying in the back, and every time we asked, they said it would be soon. When it came time to perform the actual procedure, the doctor took approximately two minutes. We understand that they see pets and their people under great duress, but we were pretty stunned by the profound lack of empathy demonstrated.

What happened to this place? My husband took our senior dog in last night. Before he could even set foot in the door, they wanted $500 "just to look at her". Everything was about $$$, even went as far as having to verify how much Care credit we have. Before your butt hits the chair they are talking $ and payment. Unbelievable!!! Our dog is senior and unresponsive. They racked a bill of 1K only to tell us that it was a "possible stroke" but wanted more $ for a definitive answer. We have taken our animals here in years past but this was by far one of the most horrible experiences. My husband has brought hundres of animals here over the years. You would think they would have some compassion, especially when its your own. Pitiful and heartless. Shame on all of you!

Drove about 40 minutes out to this emergency vet because it was the only one open on a Labor Day weekend just for them to be absolutely no help and just tell us that we should put our pet down. Two vets walked in and told us 2 completely different things and then said our dog should be hospitalized and that’d it’d be around 2k to 3k. We decided if he was going to pass away then he would pass away at home in his safe place without having to suffer more at a vet hospital , Nothing but pain medicine was given to our pet , no clarification of what was wrong with him or anything and GUESS WHAT ? Our beloved baby is still here with us healthy and back on his regular routine. If they really cared about animals so much their first option wouldn’t be to just put them down. If I could give 0 stars on this review I would. 10/10 don’t recommend

This is regarding my front desk experience. My dog was referred and it was almost a year wait for a cardiologist appointment. I call before his appointment to get information about the address and if I need to arrive early for paperwork. The front desk receptionist sighs while asking what his name is. She enters it in and tells me “hold on” and I’m all of a sudden transferred to a voicemail. I don’t know what’s going on. I just needed the address and if I need to arrive early. Im being referred because my dog had a heart problem and the reception on the phone is beyond rude, unhelpful, and my experience hadn’t even started there yet. If it wasn’t a serious issue I would have cancelled. I want my pet treated by loving hands and unfortunately the reception experience was far from it.
