Took my XC40 Recharge with 7k miles in for scheduled maintenance. Was running perfectly when I took it in. Had them check alignment and balance the tires while I was there. Now the car makes a thumping noise when I drive it, and neither their service department or Mike Stevens, the service manager, will answer the phone or return multiple voicemails.
Edit: The day after I submitted this review, multiple people contacted me to resolve this issue. Once I was able to get a call everybody involved was friendly and professional, and the issue was resolved. However, I'm leaving this at four stars because four phone calls and three voice mails starting at 8:50 AM weren't able to get a response for a full day, and I have no idea how long I would have had to wait to get a response if I hadn't complained publicly.

Benny Wong - The superhero.
We took our car into be serviced a few days ago. There are many rumors on service workers, most being negative. However, I can't say enough positive words about working with Benny. He was helpful, responsive, and took incredible care of us over the course of a week and several issues with our car. A promotion is the least of what he deserves, and I hope he gets the recognition he deserves.

One of the hottest days of summer found me just cruising through the preowned models of Volvo XC60. Never did I expect someone to come out to offer assistance on such a day but right there, Joshua was crossing the parking lot ready to answer my lengthy list of questions with not only answers but readying a model to review and test drive. And of course, my preferred color wasn't noticeably available on the lot, but Joshua searched and indeed, located a model for my review. This was my first Volvo experience and was not disappointed. Customer Service: #1; product knowledge #1; Sales showroom comfort & hospitality #1; Sales options (financing, trade, etc): #1. I hardly lifted a finger, with the exception of the test drive. Needless to say, I left with a deal in progress and ultimately drove home my new-to-me 2021 Volvo XC60 T5! I feel I'm on a cloud riding such a comfortable vehicle. Thanks, Joshua, for a great car purchase experience.

Update: was able to speak with the service manager- they're going to see if there's a recurring issue with the automated call tree.
Great dealership in every in person interaction I’ve had with them.
If you’re able to schedule an appointment online, things are a breeze. If you have any more complicated service or parts questions- reaching them is a chore. Spending 20 minutes on hold then being transferred to voicemail happens nearly every time I try.

Don't be fooled by Johnson Volvo's 4.8-star rating. This inflated score stems from a reputation management platform that intercepts negative reviews. As a long-time customer with multiple new Volvos serviced here over five years, I can attest to their consistently poor service based on eight to nine visits.
Key issues include:
1. Neglecting reported problems, necessitating additional appointments
2. Failure to communicate about ordered parts, often not ordering them at all
3. Dismissing software issues without proper investigation.
4. Excessive wait times for routine maintenance (1-hour appointments stretching to 5 hours)
5. Service advocates passing customers off to uninformed colleagues
6. Aggressive salesmen badgering waiting customers about new purchases and personal YouTube channels
The service manager's personalized emails promising exceptional care are merely part of their customer manipulation tactics. My frustration with their subpar service ultimately led me to trade down to an older, out-of-warranty Volvo to avoid further aggravation and deal with a reputable repair shop.
If you're buying a new Volvo, you're unfortunately stuck with the dealership. They know Volvo owners love their cars and have no incentive to provide quality service. Prospective customers should be wary of Johnson Volvo's deceptive practices and prepare for disappointing service experiences.

Highly recommend Johnson Volvo of Durham. They made the unpleasant experience of buying a car a painless experience for us. So happy that we chose that Volvo dealership and Rod Blackwell was great in helping us navigate the process without the high pressure sales tactics… making it a fairly seamless experience in which we were able to buy our dream car.

It was a long day. We had test driven 5 other vehicles at other dealerships and we showed up to Volvo Durham within 5 minutes of closing time. Fortunately, we ran into Forrest who I am sure was ready to go home but instead was more than accommodating and my wife and I were able to test drive the XC90 and learn a ton about this vehicle and Volvo in general.
We went home and Forrest followed up just once unlike the other dealerships with a simple text saying "here my contact info let me know if you need anything."
So a week went by and we decided to reach back out with a rather odd request for him to have two different SUVs pulled up for us to try our THREE car seats. Once again. Super accommodating we were able to take our time figuring out which would work best for our family.
We fell in love with the SUV and never felt pressured by Forrest or anyone there. We were able to negotiate a deal I was happy with and we had our car ready to go in no time. We also had a separate gentleman come to our house and show us how to use all the cool features this vehicles has to offer.
Overall an excellent experience at this dealership and happy to join the Volvo family!

Quality, top notch... Just got a used car from them. It had an issue as I showed up to test it originally, and not only were they up front about it but also delivered on the promise to help fix it if something was wrong. I just picked it up and everything is great, They were calm, professional, and helped me through the issues that were found. Blake, Marcus and Roderick were outstanding from purchase, to dealing with the issues, to me finally taking the car off the lot. I definitely will do business them again.

The best Volvo dealership I have been to. Just got my car inspected and Nick L was very helpful in answering all my questions. Very professional and made sure I had a great experience! Managers were all polite as well! Definitely recommend coming here!

Right signal default indicator was detected. Technician stated they could not find a problem. Still have the same issue. Called to set up appointment and volvo stated that there system was down and they would call and set up an appointment. No call.
