“Marlin was great. Extremely professional and for once we were not followed around and harassed by a salesperson! He helped us find an amazing bed and gave us space to talk between ourselves and if you have ever shopped in a furniture store you know how aggressive some salespersons can be. Offered us multiple options and took no for an answer when we decided against his/ashley furnitures headboard options. Which is why we felt confident in spending well over 8 grand with him! I would definitely recommend this establishment and personally will only deal with him in the future! Thank You sir!”

“Nomadic Trading Company has always been one of my favorite stops when I'm around the DIY (warehouse) district. With an eclectic collection of household furniture and decorations from Europe (primarily Hungry and Turkey), Mexico and even Africa (Morocco), they are an incredibly authentic and unique spot in downtown Durham. The hours vary, as the owners travel to multiple trade shows all over the US, but you can find them open on most weekends. The shop reminds me of a less manicured West Elm, with incredible benches, pillows, runs, hanging lights and an assortment of jugs, bottles and baskets. You'll feel like you're entering the Turkish bazaar and I highly recommend trying your hand at negotiations here. Steep prices are really the only downside, but they DO negotiate on items and constantly have sales as they're always trying to move inventory. The space has expanded in the past year into the warehouse parallel to their original space, but the actualy space needs some work, don't be surprised if you can some water droplets leaking on you from (hopefully) the ceiling. Definitely worth a stop if you appreciate beautifully crafted pieces or want a truly original piece in your home.”

“We were at Southpoint Mall yesterday after traveling from Virginia to have my daughter seen by her doctor at Duke. We used to live in the area and my daughters miss Urban Outfitters so we always stop in when we travel to Durham. While we were shopping a storm was brewing outside, we checked out and went to leave the store. While debating whether to try to make it to the car before the rain or go back into the store, the biggest bolt of lightning struck what seemed like feet away from us. (Now that I’m calmed down and less terrified, I’m thinking it struck the metal rod sticking out of the Cheesecake Factory. ?) We ran back into UO like lunatics. My 8 year old was absolutely terrified, shaking, and hyperventilating. I wish I had gotten her name but a blonde employee with the coolest outfit and the kindest smile came over and asked if my daughter wanted a cup of water to calm down. She checked on us often during the hour we were waiting for the storm to pass and her kindness was so genuine and appreciated. I made mad dash to our car once the rain lightened up and my girls ran to the car so I didn’t have a chance to thank her. Urban Outfitters is our favorite store and we especially love the one at Southpoint. If you are ever going to get nearly fried by a lightning bolt, UO at Southpoint is the place to do it. To the pretty blonde with the warm smile and excellent fashion sense, thank you for your kindness yesterday.”

“I went to Joann to find a thread to fix a hole in my teenager's favorite t-shirt. The cashier, an elderly woman, was super sweet. She didn't mind initially canceling the order and then re-ringing it, and she gave me her honest opinion on how to best repair the t-shirt.”

“It is a fact that price is good but all products I see are from China. Cloths are frequently with some small sewing problem. Lack employees and usually there is a line to pay. Toys area is very limited.”
“Big shout out to Joanne for her helpful customer service today! We were completely igniored at Crate & Barrel. We had pre-ordered swatches from both Pottery Barn and C&B for a similar sectional. Today was the day we were testing them in-person and deciding between them. The quality and price was better at PB than C&B. That aside, I was completely turned off from C&B based on their aloof attitude there, even though we were past customers. I appreciate getting our questions answered and having feedback shared about various fabrics.”
“We came in on a busy Saturday and was helped by Bella. She is an AMAZING human!! She was so kind and friendly. And went above and beyond to help us pick out furniture for our kids rooms... The best customer service we've had in a long time. AND she was able to help multiple guests get what they needed, even when the other staff were just standing around talking to each other.
There was an older lady in a walker who wanted to buy the dinosaur pillow for her granddaughter, but she only had her checkbook with her... which they don't accept as payment... Bella ended up purchasing the pillow for the lady using her own money and gifted it to the lady, no strings attached. When the lady started shedding tears, Bella gave her a hug and told the lady it was her gift to her ❤️ People like this are so hard to find in the world. We will be back to shop with you Bella!!!”
“initial review- 2 stars...I would love to review the sectional and dresser that we purchased April 15, 2024, but I won't see it until September. After spending an hour selecting our items, being told they would arrive by mid June which was our preferred time frame and PAYING FOR THE ITEMS, we got an email that our delivery was delayed by 2 months. A few days later it was delayed another month. Now we are stuck waiting. The salesperson even upsold us a dresser so that we could get the most out of our flat rate shipping fee. Although we need a dresser, we had not planned to get from West Elm and certainly had not planned to wait 5 1/2 months for it. Feels like bait and switch- really disappointed, but hopeful the furniture will be nice.
Update- 4 stars- The furniture arrived several weeks later than our original date, but earlier than the updated date. We were happy about that and the quality of the sofa and dresser met our expectations. I am increasing the review rating, but customers should expect delays. The delivery and set up went very smoothly.”
