Stopped in here yesterday afternoon for a couple of things. Not one singe cashier in sight. Lots of employees milling about in the front of the store but only self checkout available.
I DON'T DO SELF CHECKOUT.
If this is the new business model for Food Lion, It's time for me to check out. No pun intended! Let their "Self return my items" find their way back to the self.

We all know that Food Lion is the king of the grocery stores, and this is simply another excellent Food Lion! OneWheeled down the ATT recently and grabbed an iced tea here before heading home. Excellent proximity to the trail, super friendly staff, and as always, the Food Lion prices and quality you’ve come to expect. Seriously, the Teeter might have better lighting, but it does not come close to the consistent pricing excellence of the Lion, King of the Foods.

This place was disgusting it looked like they haven't cleaned in a while there bathrooms smelt very bad and they didn't have proper customer service. Definitely don't want to go there again

I am a frequent buyer because it is close to my house, the cashiers are friendly but the people in charge and the manager are rude and I bought gift cards twice and the first one did not work and I left it like that on the second occasion the card did not work I asked for help which for I didn't have a balance and they told me it wasn't their problem, they were all rude and they wouldn't do anything and I lost my money again.

Update 10/23:Things have improved since the diminution of covid. The checkout people are decent and (occasionally) downright nice--the reason for my 1 star upgrade. However, that nasty sidewalk outside the store continues to be a concern. Really?? Have power washers and bleach not been discovered here in Durham.Before & During Covid:My only problem with this store is having to confront the hoochie mama attitudes of a couple of the female cashiers who work there. You know the type. They think nothing of holding an inappropriate conversation (complete with foul language) with another cashier while you're paying for groceries. And they would never think to say good morning or thank you. It's as though they receive no customer service training and it's equally as doubtful that they ever received home training. Honestly, they're better equipped for picking up trash in the parks or any other job that requires no human interface. This particular store is within walking distance of my home making it very convenient for me as an older, non-driving shopper. So, finding another store is not an option. Otherwise, this is a decent store. It's orderly, clean and I can always find what I need. I would rate it 4 stars but for the aforementioned. Oh, and the sidewalk outside the entrance needs a good power wash once a week.

Found what I needed. Store was clean. Long wait in line. No self-checkout available. Cashier was pleasant..with me.
