I wasn't expecting much and it I was actually kinda surprised at first, the 3 Ladies were having nice helpful discussions with an older gentlemen stocking up for a party He was going to. I was looking at the Irish Cream options and noticed an unfamiliar bottle that I liked so I picked it up ...I then noticed that it had a "Use By Date" that said 06-2024 (today being 06-22-2024). I thought it was odd, I don't typically see an expiration date on Alcohol but I also noticed that all of these "New Bottles" on the shelf had the 06-2024 Date. So... thinking I was being nice and showing them what I found, I took one of these Expired Bottles up to the checkout counter with Me with My other items. I explained to the Clerk that I wasn't purchasing the Expired Bottle, I was just letting them know what I found while I was making My selection and that all of that brands bottles said the same. The Clerk said "oh well, alcohol doesn't expire so I don't know"... I explained that maybe the "Creams" do since most of them are milk based but I too wasn't sure. She set the bottle on the back counter and finished ringing Me up. Then another Clerk, comes up and says "so what is the problem here?" I explained it again, and again making it a point there isn't a problem, I just thought they'd like to know especially since there are apx 20 bottles on the shelf. The 2nd Lady's response "Well, Alcohol doesn't expire so I don't know what that's on there for. And besides, you know it's June right? I'll put it back" ...
... LOL Well, for 8 more days anyways... Yes, I do. I also thought that by NC Law an item was supposed to be removed from shelves before the listed date...as in by June 1st but according to these Ladies it is good until July 2024...all this because I was trying to be helpful. Just for further background, I do have apx 10yrs experience settings/re-setting items in Retail Stores (adding new items, removing old items, CHECKING DATES, adjusting shelves & product placement, etc). Trying to be hopeful for positive Customer Service Experience... what was I thinking.
