The staff will have patients laying in the hallways in pain and pissed for hours. I saw staff walk past with cell phones in their hand and ear. They stood in groups laughing, gossipibg and playing, when you ask one of them for help they was none e.r nurses. Area was dirty and stuff on the ground everywhere. The ER is the worst department ever! They need administrative attention immediately.!

Posting this due to an emergency situation with my brother. Brother fell at an assisted living facility. He was rushed to Duke Main after the emergency team was told to take him to Duke Regional (formerly Durham Regional). I called Duke Hospital Emergency Room and was told he was released and not there. Called assisted living facility and was told, he’s still at Duke Emergency Room. Called Duke got patient services and was giving a number to call and talked to Emergency nurse, which unfortunately was a fax number. Called Duke Patient Services got to speak to a lady who said she will take a message and have nurse put in file to have doctor give me a call. Waited 3 hours no call . Called back another representative took my name and number will give to nurse to put in file and have doctor or nurse give me a call.NO CALL. Here it is the next day still no call. Would have gone with brother, but isolated due to COVID. My name is listed on record with my brother. TERRIBLE SERVICE.

Thank you so much for helping me figure out my neurological issues. I’ve been searching for answers for over 7 months. I’m crying while I write this. I hope my brain clot goes away.

This hospital picks on weak and injured by milking them on parking.
Very silly administration, not what I expected from Duke.
Also took my girlfriend there for surgery appointment, and recieved covid from this hospital.
People were coughing in waiting room.
Next day tested positive for covid.
So if u like to be infected by covid please go to this hospital.
This all happen during Debbie, so any visiting Duke in Durham probably has covid.
They're not testing, nor masks aren't maditory.

The hospital itself, phenomenal. But I give a strong warning with anybody with esophageal cancer, and is encouraged to having esophagectomy eight weeks later, my sister is at hospice the second pet scan after her radiation they said was clear and she was a good candidate, There was some somewhere, because it spread like a match all in her lungs and throughout. … My advice is, if you have an esophageal mass, and they’re able to keep it at bay with chemo radiation, just take that time that you have quality of life and enjoy it. From the time my sister had the surgery her life has been a living Hell of suffering, suffering, like nothing I’ve ever witnessed. And I work in healthcare. Postoperatively Different things started going wrong in her body, kidneys, and like I say all of a sudden she had cancer spread everywhere. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. I should’ve listened to very strong advice “they wouldn’t have the surgery” and that was someone from Duke Hospital. She’s laying in a hospital bed at hospice just eight weeks to the day of surgery. She may be alive another day at best.

Honestly very disappointed in the staff here. My husband has had two major brain surgeries for two different abnormalities and both times he's been treated awfully. The staff a just plain ignorant and rude. They DO NOT care about the patients, they care about the money they are getting out of them. This last surgery he had we were literally kicked out of the hospital not even 12 hours after he had surgery! We refused to leave and they sent in the 'Head of Nerology' who claimed there was nothing else they could do for him, then gave us 30 minutes to pack our stuff and leave. He did not do physical therapy as required by his surgeon and no one redressed the hole in his head from the surgery before we left.

Disgusting outdoor conditions, when you go directly in front to unload in front of the building .You have benches that clearly marked no smoking , but cigarette butts all throughout. You even see staff taking people outside with oxygen to smoke cigarettes. Staff don't even follow the policy as they also come smoke where there are signs that say not too. I guess they don't have anyone to enforce it . So much for being a smoke free campus . I wish I could post a picture of the mess it thousands of cigarettes butt all throughout.

Ask for discount parking arrangements at front desk, makes parking a whole lot cheaper.

My mom only gets quality care when her surgeons and cancer team are involved. World class hospital? No, world class disappointment. Money hungry hospitals are what's wrong with Healthcare. Do better.

Please stay clear of Duke UNIVERSITY Hospital. I should've known that when it had university in the name, it would be a bunch a newbie "d0cTorS" that don't really have any experience. My partner has Multiple Sclerosis, and her body was going through a MS relapse, and swelling. So we get here around 11:30p.m, and we wait for about 2 hours before we are taken into the back. Then they draw blood and get a urine sample and do a CT scan. We wait for like 7 hours before we get all the results back from all the tests. They then say "Elevate the swollen area and wear compression socks". LIKE BRUH, WE SAW THAT ON GOOGLE! So they discharge her with her swollen legs, and don't even walk her out. Oh, and I almost forgot. They hold their patients in the hallway. So while they are drawing blood, getting blood pressure levels, explaining to patients their issues/symptoms, they are doing it inches away from other patients. Literally like 2 feet apart. Sooooo HIPPA laws don't matter? Just discussing my partners medical issues for the next person to hear? Please guys, don't ever go here.
