After being a year behind on my physical last year 2023 I called and scheduled my apt originally scheduled for Jan 2024. My apt since originally made was rescheduled 3-4 times by the clinic due to provider scheduling issues! I did mychart message my PCP and she got back to me within a day or 2 after some communication back and forth about my frustrations with my apt constantly being rescheduled and pushed back she was able to see me sooner and Dr.Scherr was great! I really like going to her but at the location the rotation of providers suck it’s really hard to be able to maintain your visit with just one provider! Also I had a terrible experience with front desk associate Jackie who was very rude throughout encounter with her customer service skills being that she worked front line was trash. She was very negative and passive aggressive and it totally ruined my vibe for my appointment and was very discouraging for me about my new job with Duke myself.she buded into my conversation while being checked in with other front desk staff and added that my new position would be alot of work! Had nothing positive or nice to congratulate me on my new role just the comment of that is going to be hard work and a long grunt. I had stopped by the clinic the same afternoon to drop off paper work for my doctor and she let me stand and wait with no patient in front of me to aggressively tell me they never take medical paperwork up front. I then asked her where did I need to take the paper work because the doc just said to drop it off and she repeated to me while rolling her eyes medical records business hours never addressing my question of where I take the paper to are far as location. So I asked her a second time and she said to come in to someone upfront and they buzz back to medical records to come get patient from lobby. After that I was very fustrated because there I was at the front where I did need to come it was just that they closed medical records at 4pm. Long story short I was very unpleased with how disrespectful Jackie was at the front desk. Loved Dr.Scherr

Check in staff are helpful and kind, and so are the doctors. pricing is ABSURD. I paid almost 400$ for a 20 minute preventative care conversation with a doctor, and a single blood drawing for a cholesterol test, which is not a complex or expensive test to run. why this cost me such an obscene amount of money is beyond me, and there was absolutely no way to appeal this. I contacted Duke, and was practically told "yeah, shut up and take it." no wonder people avoid the doctor. I wish I could come back because the doctors are nice, but this hidden and absurd pricing is criminal.

Pro: Duke doctors are generally pretty good. Cons: Doctors here are super young, customer service at this place is not great, Duke bureaucracy is insane, you will experience frequent rotations and cancellations.

The providers here are great. Unfortunately you will struggle to get any form of an appointment or have that appointment hold up. Legit scheduling routine physicals almost a year out and then having it get cancelled is frustrating. Great providers though.

At this clinic, patients have difficulty seeing the same physician on repeat appointments. This "carousel" of care isn't good for the patient especially when there are ongoing serious medical issues.

Every visit I have had here, I have had to wait 2 hours past my appointment time before I even see the provider. They call you back, take your vitals, and stick you in a room and shut the door and have you wait for a hour or so as if you are in the ER. When you ask how long it’s going to be the nurses don’t know anything. Definitely looking for another primary care because this is not it. You have to wait 3 days for a response if you message your provider, God forbid it’s anything serious just go on to the ER because your wait here will be just as long.

Complete lack of respect for you or your time. It took 6 months to get an appointment. When I show up at my scheduled time they tell me my appointment had been rescheduled to a different date with a different Dr. (who I know nothing about). I received no phone call, text or email notifying me of the rescheduling. Disrespectful.

I see Dr Kuntz at this location and she is great. Yes they bill twice, but I got a lot of"warnings" about it on MyChart so it wasn't a surprise. Getting an appointment with my doctor was a little difficult but that's because of the appointment people that are at another location, I think. I've been going here for years and have not yet had a bad experience. Oh, it is a teaching clinic so at times there have been students that shadow my doctor during the appointment with my consent.

their billing practices are borderline a scam. they charge as hospital services which can leave you with a bill for $1000 for two primary care visits. meanwhile they advertise as a health clinic not a hospital

I took my 6 year old son yesterday to Dr.Witt. My main concern was he was complaining of back pain. He didn’t even address the back pain and if I didn’t ask him to feel his back to make sure he didn’t feel anything he wouldn’t have. What if it’s his kidneys? He rushed through the appointment and basically did not show he even cared. I probably will not be returning to this location and will find a doctor who actually cares. I also called to file a compliant with the Duke system yesterday morning and still have not gotten a call back.

The quality of care is excellent! My doctor provides amazing care. The billing of this place seems unethical. I went for an annual physical and discussed issues outside of what your are allowed to talk about during a physical (which I understand) but it ultimately reflected a $756 charge for outpatient/clinic services. This place is a perfect example of some of the problems of our healthcare system. I will likely forgo healthcare as a result of fear for their non-transparent high costs.

Utterly worthless clinic, and the providers are unresponsive. It has always been difficult to find a provider there, and the wait times in the clinic are ridiculous. But my latest experience is the final straw. I called yesterday and spoke with a nurse because I've come down with Covid and have become very ill and wanted advice, and information on possible antiviral meds etc. It's a day later and I've received NO response from the clinic. I called again, and the same nurse says "ok well we forwarded the request to Dr. Viera as a priority". That's it? Forget it. Won't be returning to this place.

The check in process at this place is potentially the worst organized, least efficient process in health care. And that's saying something!!! People seem nice, but clearly the leadership and organizational efficiency folks have decided they don't care about their patients. Sad....

Don't go here if you expect your insurance to pay anything. Despite being in network they will code everything weird and will refuse to help you afford your care after billing.

Bad bad experience.... For the first-time visit, I waited for about 50 minutes, which influenced other appointments for the whole day. Then they got wrong diagnosis code when submitting claims to my insurance company and I got full amount of the billing sent to me... However, I called my insurance and they said they should cover 100% of preventive care (annual physical exam and vaccination of flu-shot), and Duke Family Medicine Center should re-submitted the claim with correct code.Pay Attention: As some other reviewers said, they will charge you twice for your visit: one for doctor and one for facility... The second bill for facility comes 1-2 months after the first one.Update: the service date is 09/30/2020 and now is 01/14/2021, they still haven’t submitted the claim correctly to my insurance company. Currently, I got total of $392.50 billing for this 30-minute annual physical exam with 50-minute wait and without any lab exams... I’ve called insurance company and Duke Family Medicine Center for many times in the past 3 months and the issue hasn’t been solved... this is crazy and I’ll never ever come back again to Duke Family Medicine Center. So disappointed and even angry about this terrible experience.Update: An agent from my insurance company just talked with a billing agent from Duke Family Medicine Center, and she told me my appointment was not count as annual physical exam/ preventive care is because I told the doctor I was nose bleeding frequently recently during that visit. Excuse me? I was in a physical exam and when the doctor asked me: “Do you have any health concerns?” The answer other than “No, I’m fine” will cost me extra around $400??? And the nature of that visit changed from preventive care to clinic visit which is count into deductible instead of 100% covered? I made the appointment saying I want annual physical exam; I came to the office and received exams for blood pressure, height, weight, etc. But it turns out this is not “preventive care” because I told the doctor I had concerns about nose-bleeding after he asked me without telling me in advance that “pay attention to your answer, if you do have concern, your visit will not be covered by your insurance and this is not preventive care any more”.Ok, fine. Duke Family Medicine Center said they may modify the billing in the following 3-5 business days. Let us see how it goes. Hope I could read more reviews about this place before I made the appointment, and really hope this review could warn other new patients to stay away from unexpected financial burden and troubles from overcharging billing.
