Customer service is an absolute nightmare. I have spent COUNTLESS hours on the phone with this company and my issues are YET to be resolved. It is absolutely ridiculous to pay for health insurance when they are denying all of our claims stating they are out of network when in fact THEY ARE NOT. They need to update their system and get with the program. I have never experienced worst customer service in my life...

I am unfortunatly a member of Blue Cross Blue Shield as my workplaces insurance, and it is absolutely attorcious. I have used it twice for urgent care visits, the first time they tripled the cost of what I would have paid if I was uninsured, took about half off, and said it was a good deal to only pay $50 more than I would have uninsured. The second most recent time was because I got a covid test, I had already paid $45 at urgent care, and am now being told the total cost is $390,after insurance its $295. All this for a simple covid test that their online portal says is covered, and that would have been only been about $150 without insurance.Long story short, do not sign up for this insurance, they can and will scam you. It's cheaper to be uninsured.

I submitted a claim, and then BCBS NC mailed me back my claim telling me I used the wrong Member/Subscriber ID, and they provided a different ID on their letter to me. However the ID I provided was correct: it matches the ID on my membership card, and verified by two BCBS NC reps over the phone. However, BCBS NC refuses to process the claim telling me I have to resubmit it, even though they already have it, with the correct ID on it. There is no resolution to their inaccurate record keeping concerning my ID, and no guarantee they will not continuously return my claim, telling me my ID is wrong when it is right. And the reps refused to let me speak with a manager or supervisor. Additionally, BCBS NC lost a claim mailed to them prior to this claim, and I would never have known that if I did not call them concerning this claim. There is no other option than to file a complaint with the NC Department of Insurance against BCBS NC for for gross negligence and incompetence.

Premiums keep going up and coverage keeps going down. I’ve had 3 procedures that are no longer covered by my plan in the last year alone! What DO you cover? Are planning to drop those things as well?

Terrible customer service. Called to ask a straight forward question regarding a prescription on formulary and our HSA deductible. Agent was in the Philippians, sounded like she was in a wind tunnel, and had no clue what I was even talking about. Needed to do "research" which means the answer was likely to be wrong. When I asked to speak to a supervisor in NC, she said no one was available for 30 minutes or more. Since I'm paying nearly $3000 a month in premiums, I expect better service. I would give negative stars if I could. I wish WNC had other choices. You'd think if they were going to outsource their customer service, they would do a better job picking who was handling their customers. Obviously they don't give a rats behind about the people they are overcharging.

In as late as the early 2000s, BCBS NC was a decent health insurer. Now, they charge more, provide substantially worse customer service, and their BEST trick is to change formularies constantly so that something you used to get regularly is suddenly not covered- and while you sit there getting sicker or dying, they’ll delay the appeals process. I just had a rep tell me that despite trying TWO “alternatives” to the medication a relative’s LICENSED PHYSICIAN prescribed which did not help her, BCBS wanted her to give ANOTHER one on their “alternatives” list a try- because who cares if the patient gets sicker while the patient is suffering to benefit BCBS’ profit margins? Generic medicine meets greed. Unfortunately, there’s virtually no GOOD health insurer out there these days. BCBS used to be a better one of the lot. Not any more.

If you have a business in North Carolina why must I speak to India to fix your mistake? It’s because you think your time is worth more than mine. Horrible company. Waste of money. *#%holes

Horrible. Had BCBS Cali benefits but had to be processed through this office. Reimbursed 1/5 of what was promised and can't get anyone on the phone who will tell me why.

Customer service wait times consistently between 45 min to an hour. Website appears to be built as an elementary school class project. No pricing tools whatsoever at the site. Too many of their top execs are making $2-5M per year on record earnings even after the implementation of the Affordable Care Act yet they can't adequately staff a call center? How do these execs sleep at night? Have they completely lost all their ethics and morals. Do they have no sense of right and wrong? There isn't exactly a free market for health insurance and health care. Run from this company as fast as you can.

Horrible company. They made me call my husband at work to get his permission so I could change MY primary care provider. May as well now start requiring women to get the husband's permission for other things, like owning property, getting bank account, voting. Country is sliding downwards.

I worked there for 5 years and saw a waste of monetary and personal resources. Great people that were working hard every day but decisions at the top are misguided and ego driven. Just had my daughter's $104 bill for shots rejected....gotta pay for the abuse of funds by leadership.
