Henson installed the HVAC systems in our neighborhood homes when under construction in 2016. Since then I've had to replace evaporator coil twice, both of the damper motors, a switch and the compressor once. I'm now purchasing a whole new system, all 4 companies who've come out here to give a quote said shoddy installation is the culprit all of the trouble I've experienced over the years. Thanks a lot

Henson Mechanical installed all of the HVAC on our house (a renovation plus addition). The following summer, when we discovered that a section of the house wasn’t cooling,we called out a company to check it out (a new one was recommended because of the sloppy work we COULD see). We found out that the ductwork that was hidden from view was improperly installed with parts of it crushed and cutting off the air. The photos taken from up in the hidden access space prior to the repairs showed how botched the job was. When I raised the issue with Henson, I was told I should have called to let them address it and to send them the bill - and never heard from them again. Now, as summer is heating up again, I had to call out service on ANOTHER section of the house that wasn’t cooling (with a separate air handler). Much to my dismay and frustration, I found out that Henson shoved the ductwork in and crushed it trying to fit it into existing framing in the old part of the house … so virtually no air flow was getting into it one room. (When I allowed Henson to come out last year, they claimed it was fine.) Go anywhere else but there if you don’t want to waste your money.Services: Installation

A fun game to play is ask hms for your account report, and see all the smack the techs write about you. We did this and the techs were annoyed we didn’t want to pay for a $2000 repair when the house felt fine, not saying really nice stuff. Part of the reason for that is every time these guys come for routine maintenance they suggest a $1000 or $500 repair and after a few rounds of that you start to wonder if they’re being honest. I will say the house has always felt fine with their service, but that was only sometimes paying their crazy repairs all the time. Who knows what was needed and what wasn’t. And after seeing how they regard their customers in the report, I’m in the market for a company that appreciates the consumer a little more.Services: HVAC system maintenance

My senior-citizen mother call this company because her AC wasn't working. They charged her a $90 diagnosis fee to come out and tell her, "Your AC isn't working." Yeah... that's literally WHY she called you. But what's the problem and what will it cost to fix?? Also, the guy who came out wanted her sign a BLANK authorization for work. Not a confidence-inspiring interaction, and a complete WASTE of MONEY.

In October of 2019, we purchased a home in Denver, NC. Before we purchased the home, I personally checked the heating and cooling system and these units operated in optimal working order. Before we moved in, I had our general contractor make arrangements for a local HVAC company to come to the home to inspect our units for our peace of mind. My contractor contacted Henson Mechanical of Denver, NC for service. A Henson technician came out to inspect our units. After the inspection, the tech cited a long list of problems with one of my units followed by a recommendation for the replacement of that AC unit. Below are copies of Henson recommendation and estimate: After the service call from Henson, one of the AC units started to shutdown automatically within a few minutes of starting. I then call another local HVAC company in Denver for a second opinion. Their technician was honest and extremely bright. Upon his inspection of the circuitry board on my AC unit, he discovered a test strip was left attached to my unit. As it was explained to me, a "test strip" is a rubber strip placed in two specific locations on in the circuitry board to simulate a fault condition triggering an automatic shutdown of the unit. HVAC technicians test the automatic shutdown function to ensure it proper working order so that if the unit was to experience a serious fault, it would automatically shutoff to save the unit from damage. I believe this test strip was purposely left on my AC unit only to force me to purchase a new unit. Henson also informed me that I had a evaporator coil leak. Upon further inspection from the other HVAC company, it was discovered that Mylar seal had not been broken only to indicate that the no access was ever made for a proper inspection. Henson also quoted me for a replacement for the duct work for my HVAC. The tech from the other HVAC told me he saw no serious issues with my duct work. Before I wrote this review, I called Henson Mechanical 5 times to afford them a fair opportunity to explain themselves to correct any misconceptions or errors I had made in my assessment. When I called them, I asked the receptionist to speak to the owner(s) or the tech Henson sent to my home. It's been over 4 months I still yet have not heard back from Henson for an plausible explanation. I gave them one last opportunity yesterday to call me back and I still haven't heard back. At this point I will have to presume that my assessment of Henson's Mechanical is accurate and Henson's Mechanical was operating in an unethical manner. The company that serviced my HVAC after Henson's charged me $160.00 to inspect my unit and remove the test strip left by Henson's versus $9100 that Henson's wanted to charge me for a complete HVAC replacement. I do not recommend Henson Mechanical for any service needs.
