Russ McClain and First Choice Window Door and Deck are thieves. We invited them to give us an estimate for conversion of our screened in porch to a year around sun room in July 2023. They were very accommodating and conveyed what appeared to be a great work ethic and honesty in what they do. As a result we committed to the job, providing nearly $10,000 as a deposit with a promise that work would begin in Oct 2023. Since then it has been all promises and no work, with all further communications ceasing. Russ has taken our money and done nothing but a minor accommodation re-screening of porch (we tried to cut the job up to make things easy for him) in the nearly 11 months since providing the significant deposit. This business appears to be nothing but a scam despite having some favorable reviews on Angie's List (our trusted go-to place for locating vetted contractors). I just don't get it but who does when they've been victims of a thief. I have bent over backwards to work with Russ and his company only to be ignored as he pocketed our money, hoping against hope he would simply refund our deposit and we could both move on. Instead it has come to this - alerting others with a big BEWARE not to be sold by Russ and his promises.

Worked fast and clean, added everything we wanted in the design, very quick and efficient. We are happy with our sunroom and can’t wait till we find another project to use First Choice on.

First Choice did an addition to our existing deck with a pergola and built-in planter, the project turned out great. Russ and his crew were responsive, and took care of cleaning up everything at the end of the project.

I love my deck! I wanted it so bad and I was so impatient while they worked... all of the crew was so polite and helpful! I couldn't even get angry about anything because they were so nice. The company was always ready to make things right if I didn't like how something looked. My deck is gorgeous and worth the wait and every penny!

I will go ahead and save you the hassle do not ever book these people. They took the deposit money and have not done anything. We hired them to do our deck and they took the money and haven’t given us any communication. Russ McClain you are scum.

My parents have been working with Russ McClain. They put a down payment on porch work and they still have heard NOTHING from them and it has been almost 1 year!!!!!!!! Absolutely do not work with them. My parents have been calling and calling to get their money back and have heard nothing, just false promises.

Jan 2023 we signed a contract and gave a $13,000 deposite. It is now Jan 2024 and we have no sunroom, no deposit and no contact with with Russ. He does not answer our calls. We leave text messages that are ignored. We have seeked legal actions, called 5 on your side. Please do not use this company.

Extremely Disappointing Experience with First Choice Window Door and Deck, LLCI recently had a profoundly disappointing experience with First Choice Window Door and Deck, LLC, and I feel compelled to share my thoughts, particularly about the owner, Russ McClain. It has been seven long months (While signing the contract he promised work would be completed in 8 Weeks) of sheer frustration, and I am yet to receive any response regarding the project for which I entrusted them with my hard-earned money.From the moment we signed a contract with this company, the communication breakdown was evident. It took them weeks to even respond to basic inquiries and concerns, leaving us in the dark about the Start of our project. We were promised high-quality service, but in reality, it was the complete opposite.Worse still, after several failed attempts to reach the provided contact number, all calls directed us straight to voicemail, where no one bothered to return our calls. This level of negligence and unresponsiveness is utterly unacceptable, especially given the significant investment we made in our project.Desperate for some form of contact, I decided to leave an honest review on Google, detailing our harrowing experience. It was only then that Mr. Russ McClain, the owner, decided to get in touch. His response was not only unprofessional but also incredibly disheartening. He asked if I would consider removing the review, seemingly more concerned with his online reputation than with addressing our project.Subsequently, we were left without any updates or progress reports on our project, and this has caused us immense mental stress and frustration. We have lost both time and a considerable sum of money, amounting to $5,000 deposit. It's disheartening to think that our trust in First Choice Window Door and Deck, LLC was so misplaced.Furthermore, I am perplexed by the positive reviews I have seen about this company, and I question their authenticity. It's difficult to believe that our experience is unique when there are numerous reports of dissatisfaction and disappointment. It's crucial that consumers exercise caution and conduct thorough research before doing business with this company.In conclusion, our experience with First Choice Window Door and Deck, LLC has been a complete letdown. The lack of communication, unprofessionalism, and failure to deliver on promises has left us disheartened and out of pocket. I hope my review serves as a warning to others and encourages the company to reflect on its business practices.

We love our screened in porch installed by Russ and his crew at First Choice Window and Door. Communication was great from our first contact with Russ and Carlton, through the end of the project. The project was completed on time with top quality products.

We regret having encountered this company. Same story as the other 2 most recent postings. We gave 1/3 $ down payment and have received nothing but unanswered calls & broken promises since. I would advise strongly against doing business with them. We are stuck trying to get our money back.

BEWARE OF FRAUDS, LOSS OF MONEY NO RESPONSE FOR PHONE CALL. Email or text.Russ McLain and his sales rep/ partner James Carlton took deposits from us about 6 months ago and promised to finish the job within 8 weeks but nothing happened until now we are calling them every day no response. They don’t answer the phone. We deeply regret to give them money. So don’t get in trouble

I regret to say that my experience with First Choice Window Door and Deck and Russ McClain has been nothing short of a nightmare. Five months have passed since I entrusted them with a deposit for a promised project, and I am left feeling frustrated, disappointed, and ignored.From the beginning, the signs were promising. Russ McClain had promised to commence work on my project within 8 weeks, which seemed reasonable at the time. However, as of today, not only has the project not started, but there has been no communication whatsoever from their end. My numerous calls and messages have gone unanswered, leaving me in the dark about the status of my project and the fate of my deposit.This lack of responsiveness and professionalism is utterly unacceptable. When a vendor fails to communicate and leaves a customer in the dark for an extended period, it erodes trust and raises serious doubts about their reliability. I entrusted First Choice Window Door and Deck and Russ McClain with my hard-earned money, and the least I expected was transparency and regular updates on the project's progress.Furthermore, the absence of any scheduled work or even a basic acknowledgment of my messages has left me wondering if First Choice Window Door and Deck and Russ McClain has any intention of fulfilling their promises. Their actions, or rather lack thereof, suggest a severe lack of commitment to customer satisfaction and a disregard for their obligations.At this point, I have no choice but to caution others against engaging with First Choice Window Door and Deck and Russ McClain. Their behavior has not only wasted my time and resources but also caused unnecessary stress and disappointment. Our screened in porch was changed into a sunroom with sliding windows and sliding door - contractor that did the work was very professional, neat and extremely knowledgeable! We are extremely pleased with the finished product!

Great service, communication, and excellent finished result. We replaced the original windows in a 50 year old house, and Russ was super helpful in the process of choosing the right window options, trims, etc. to upgrade all the windows while still maintaining an original “style” to the home. The crew was professional and got the job done on schedule, and the end result is a major improvement. All around great experience from start to finish.
