Once in awhile you run across people and a business that will bend over backwards to help you. And go above and beyond what the norm is. You will find that at The Great Outdoors in cherryville NC. I had a rare Garmin trolling motor issue this week and made a phone call to Jason Jason G Wilson and he told me be there at 9am the next day ! Tyler Beam was already working on it before I could walk around the store to look for him ?! It may be a little of a drive for my local guys but I can promise you won’t find better people with more in a store hunting/fishing wise and boat service than right there ! Go see for yourself!

What a gem to find in little ol' Cherryville! All the things, in a local small business. I received a genuine welcome from the friendly staff up front, and had a great time browsing through the extensive selections in each area of the store. Looks like they'd likely have about any outdoor sport/leisure "thing" I'd need.I was especially impressed with the guy behind the gun counter. He took the time to show me multiple items I was interested in, and was very knowledgeable about them all. I'll be back again and again, for sure!

I have shopped at The Great Outdoors four different times. Out of those four times one was a pleasant experience, only because I did not interact with an employee other than the cashier. The other three experiences were repulsive. My latest experience on 9/20/2023 will be the last dollar I ever spend at this location. Store closes at 6pm. I walked in at 5:40 and was checked out and out of the store before 6pm. I walked in for an FFL transfer. The entire time this process took place the employee was tossing pens, paperwork, and my license around on the counter. Slapping his finger on the counter and snatching paper work around, at one point he tossed a paper with my confidential information on the counter and it flew off and landed on the ground several feet away. At which I picked it up and slapped it on the counter. After he seen that I begin to get frustrated with his childish tantrum he begin calling me "sir". In an attempt to cover up his previous unprofessional and nasty attitude. After the FFL was completed he said "I'm meet you at the counter". His attitude got the best of him and LEFT the firearm on the gun counter unattended. I have NEVER walked my own firearm from a gun counter accross the store to the checkout counter. Not to mention the FFL transfer was 40$. I own over a dozen firearms, most of which I have bought online and had them transferred to me at a FFL. I have never spent more than 25$ on a transfer. Unprofessional, overpriced, rude, and undeserving of serving the people of Cherryville.

Drove forty minutes to get a dozen fmj arrows to be treated like an idiot. I asked for 12 cut to 28” and he said I’ll cut them long for you. I’m 42 and been slinging arrows out of my bow for a while. I don’t need longer than 28”. Acted like I committed blasphemy because I didn’t bring my bow. Whatever happened to just asking for something and paying? Got a whole spill on how fmj will warp and suck. Won’t waste my gas next time.

Just wanted to say how happy I am with the boat service and repair I get from here.They are top notch and very knowledgeable on marine boat motors. They have repaired my old pontoon several times and I get treated the same as the person with a 100,000 bass boat. They don’t care if it’s new or used or even if you didn’t buy it from them, they will get the done done. The boating section of TGO is awesome! Everyone has been friendly and ready to help however they can. Recently purchased a boat through them and had great communication and competitive prices. They are also great for trolling motor repairs and install.
