McGrant Tax and Bookkeeping was established in 1997 by Evelyn McGrant. Evelyn franchised a tax business with a very popular tax services Charlotte NC company three years prior. After a few years of being a franchisee, Ms. McGrant felt the need to shift gears. She wanted to be independent of the franchise in an effort to lower the cost of operation, she wanted to retain more earnings and offer a full range of services to the community. In January of 1997 with very few resources, a small number of funds borrowed from family/friends, and 6 of her previous employees, McGrant Tax & Bookkeeping was born.
