The overall best place to get new and used gear! Whether you're a pro or a newbie, they have everything for biking, hiking, and skiing. I have taken my bike to many shops around town and had to ship a bike to NY for my son - I found out the hard way I should have taken it to Gear Goat instead. Super nice friendly and knowledgeable staff- I always recommend them! They can even build you a bike!

Amazing experience here. Brought my first road bike since moving to CLT. Guy greeted me at the door and was very knowledgeable about bikes, speed, wheel sizes etc. Amazing prices with amazing service. Bike technicians worked quickly and efficiently. Since I was biking home, they installed a rack and gave me a water bottle to make sure I was set to go. Gear Goat goes above and beyond in terms of customer service and its evident from when you walk in the door! Highly recommend!!!

I've used Gear Goat Xchange a few times for repairs and tune-ups for my mountain bike. The staff is knowledgable, friendly, and I have always been happy with the work they do—and at a competitive rate compared to other bike shops. I highly recommend them for their lightly used gear, bike maintenance, and overall know-how on all things outdoor.

I had such a wonderful experience here.I was greeted and taken care of as soon as I walked in the door.I was looking for a day pack for my trekking trip. The salesman that worked there was very knowledgeable about the bags and what would be best for my trip.Very helpful in how the bag would fit me.Also, another young lady was very helpful and knowledgeable, assisting me with looking for the best type of trek shoes.Also, another young man offered to help me with bringing my belongings to the cashier.Hands down! Outstanding customer service and exceptionally knowledgeable. This is my 1st time going trekking in the Himalayas, and this was an excellent place to have found for answers. The staff was very welcoming and hospitable. I Highly recommend this store and will definitely be going back. ✨✨✨??

I bring all my bikes here. A little pricey but worth it. Bob, Brandon and the guy with dreads are really good and know their stuff when it comes to bikes. Also pick up some of their cool stickers when you're checking out. I have them all. #RADSUCKS

Gear Goat XCHG is easily the best outdoors shop in all of Charlotte. Hell, I would say in all of Mecklenburg county.The owner, Ilan, genuinely cares about his staff, the community, and his customers. Any worker that Ilan has hired, they stay on forever and always talk about how much they love being there. He works so hard to take care of everyone that walks through the door and remembers you if you're a repeat guest.There have been times where I've walked into their shop completely dead broke and in need of fixing my bike to get to work, and his mechanics would drop everything to get me up and running for the cheapest and fastest way possible. They've demonstrated a lot of love and care for everyone and even helped promote local nonprofits and group rides. They're not out to line their pockets with cash, they genuinely want to help the community enjoy being outside. Once, I went in to buy a new rain jacket and brought in my old one to show what I wanted, and they stopped me from buying one and instead gave me advice and instructions on how to fix up the old one for super cheap so that it stopped wetting out. When I was about to go on a camping trip, they stopped to ask where, provided recommendations, helped me pick out a few items that were within my budget, and even gave me advice on how to work with some of the items.In addition, Ilan's business model is a very climate-friendly one. Buying up used equipment, getting them refurbished, and then selling them to customers at a discounted rate is a great example of a cyclical economy. He's also helped promote Sustain Charlotte a number of times, one of the most active sustainability nonprofits in the region.Do yourself a favor and make this your ONLY stop for anything outdoors if you can. Any money you spend here is money that goes back into the community.

Well organized, friendly vibes, high-quality outdoor gear and clothing consignments. A great concept and a fun place to shop for better brands of hiking/biking/climbing/yoga/running apparel.
