For the actual logistics:
- This is a great place for savings accounts; specifically, you can’t beat their money market return rate.
- This is not a good place to go for credit cards; the application process is a circus.
- The specific-banking-account numbers, I had to get on paper directly from the teller to set up my direct deposit.
- This place has free financial advising included with having an account.
Now, onto the rest of it. Why do I bank here?
I like that the employees are knowledgeable and respectful of legal names vs preferred names. I like that they have a Spanish-speaking representative always present. I like that this credit union works hard with those who are struggling to get their feet under them. The second time I walked in (after I had set up accounts), I was still greeted and treated like a person and not a customer or won sale.
This place is not the most high-tech or with the best offers, like some of the big banks. But they care. That matters enough for me.”

“It is always in your extreme time of need that your greatest supporters are revealed and SECU has proven themselves to be just that.I was researching a financial institution that I could develop a long term relationship with and this particular SECU branch seemed to have a lot of positive feedback.When I went into the location, I was helped by a wonderful person named Dominque. She was kind, helpful, and amiable but, most importantly, she seemed personally involved and responsible for my success. Her customer service was truly outstanding. That type of loyalty and motivation or high energy commitment cannot be manufactured.I was introduced to the bank manager, Mr. Lee. I believe strongly in the ability of real leadership to make a difference and it showed with Mr. Lee and his team.In any organization— attitude, demeanor, and sentiment should go from the top down and Mr. Lee displayed the ethical standards and confidence of a true leader. “I went to FLCU for a car loan. I took in my application. I was contacted by LeDeana Cochrane which was very help in approving my loan. She worked with me very patiently, because I was calling her to find out how much the bank would approve on the cars I was looking at. Each time I called her she took the time out to help me which took almost a month before I found what I was looking for. The day I found the car I was looking at, she was out of the office for a few days I kind a freaked a little , because she was the only one I had been talking to, so I left her a message on the phone telling her I had found a car. I got to the dealership they called the bank and everything was ready to go. LeDeana had sent everything over to Chris Which had taken care of everything while I was at the dealership. LeDeana called and did a follow up when she got back to check to see if I was satisfied with everything.”
