“I've been coming here for 2 decades for 1 reason: fresh baked daily markouk. (IYKYK) Growing up in a Lebanese family and cooking all the best middle eastern foods - trust me when I say the markouk and Lebnah alone is worth the trip to this halal market (think bodega). Dingy, somewhat organized, and eclectic you can find everything from grains & meats, bulk sized tahini, junky trinkets to olives, hookah equipment and supplies, dried spices and middle eastern desserts. The market is attached to a bakery serving up all kinds of middle eastern foods - fatayer, knafe, pita, and much more! I recommend the minced meat and pine nut fatayer- so so good. It's a treasure hunt and is in a small area of Sharon Amity with a fair few other middle eastern spots to try like Al-Basha next door. If you're looking for the flavors of home (Lebanon, Syria) this is as close as charlotte can get.”
“Everyone complains about the cashiers, people want them to be smiling at them all the time, stop complaining, as long as they are attended to and given good service it is not necessary for those who charge to be laughing with you, let's be empathetic since that type of work is tiring and stressful, it must be difficult to deal with so many people in a day and even worse to have to deal with people as uncomfortable as those who require the cashiers to be smiling at all times,”

“It was a different experience, picking the livestock of your choice and getting it cleaned in front of you. There’s a few variety of livestocks like chicken, hen, duck, guinea chicken, rabbits etc. the staff there mostly comprehend Spanish but can manage English. One different experience I had was the torching after the cleaning. It helps to remove any feather stubs and hairs and at the same time enhances the flavor. You just have to ask them specifically for that.”
