Let me start by saying I hate getting my hair done! I went to Jennifer Godfrey at Blis Salon today, it was awesome! Let me tell you everything about Blis was amazing!! Jennifer made me feel very comfortable, gave me a hair cut and highlights that I absolutely love! No noisy Salon. It was just her and I in her studio. I can’t say enough good things about Blis Salon. Thanks Jennifer! You ROCK!!

Jennifer is the only person in Charlotte who I trust with my curls. She does an amazing job and I always walk out the door knowing that my haircut will not only look good, it will save me valuable time and effort over the next few months. The Ouidad system works, and it's worth every penny!

Jennifer has cut my hair about 8 times now and I've always been happy. When I first went to her I hadn't had my hair cut in about 20 years, literally! I have naturally curly hair and got a bad haircut as teen that left me looking like a poodle, and after that I'd simple ask a family member to trim the ends once in a while for fear of getting another bad haircut. The Quidad cut is pricey for my budget, but it's unlike another other haircut and totally worth it. I would never get any other haircut now, even if it means if I have to wait longer between getting it cut. If you've got curly hair give it a try!

Brenda did a Ouidad style cut on my hair a couple of times. To shed some light on my Ouidad experiences, I have been to the flagship salon in New York and I have been to other Ouidad stylists over a period of more than 15 years. Brenda was one of three "so-called" Ouidad stylists whom I have had terrible hair cuts from. It's been months since I saw Brenda for a hair cut and my hair is still recovering from the poor (or entirely lacking) technique. I think I know more about Ouidad hair cuts than Brenda does and that shouldn't be the case, because I am not a stylist. I wouldn't recommend anyone to this salon! While I was there, I saw another woman refusing to pay for service because she was dissatisfied. I wish I would have taken a page from her book. I'm more than $200 dollars down the drain for two bad hair cuts. Initially, I thought maybe the crooked and lacking Ouidad haircut was because she was new to my hair, but that wasn't the case at all. Brenda cut out more from my hair than the should have and did another Ouidad hair cut too soon, which shouldn't be my responsibility to determine. I think based on other reviews, they're clearly not in the business of hair; they're in the business of ripping people off under the guise of being a salon.

My 6 year old son has thick straight hair and plenty of it. Going to pigtails and those similar factory farm type places, was not working. We tried numerous stylists at those kids places and it was always average at best. Trisha cuts his hair at Blis and she understands what his hair can do and what looks best. She provides feedback to educate those of us who just want what we see in a pic but maybe is not achievable, given your hair type. My son has a hip cut and looks adorable. Those overpriced kid shops in Ballantyne made him look like d*** and dumber. No thanks!

I bought a Living Social deal for this salon. I called to make an appointment and explained to the receptionist that I had the Living Social Coupon (since it says on the coupon that you MUST mention it when you make your appointment). I arrived to the salon for my color and cut appointment. The stylist (Morgan) put the color in my hair and 10 minutes before processing was done I mentioned the Living Social coupon to her in passing. That is when the stylist tells me that they do not take the Living Social deal on Saturdays and she personally does not accept them. I told her that I mentioned it to the receptionist when I called but she never said that it wasn't accepted on Saturdays. The stylist then proceeded to tell me that she would try and see what the owner would do. When she came back there was no good news. There was nothing they would do for me because they couldn't "scan" the coupon. I told them that they should still honor the deal for me because it doesn't say anywhere on the coupon that it isn't taken on Saturdays and the receptionist never mentioned it. The stylist (Morgan) then told me "I can't discount it. That would be money coming out of my pocket!". Excuse me? And me paying full price isn't money coming out of my pocket?! I was then told that the color was $60 and cut was $50 making the total $110 (instead of only $60). I opted out of paying $50 for a hair cut. Morgan then dried my hair with no brush. I walked out of the salon with huge frizzy hair in a pony tail. When I got to the receptionist my $60 color was up'd to $70 with no explanation as of why. I was tired of arguing with them as I could tell that there was nothing they would do to help me. It is now my job to let everyone know that this salon will do whatever they can to get you in the door and then rip you off. I have never been so dissatisfied with customer service before in my life. I will never return to this salon again.

I strongly do NOT recommend anyone with curly hair going here. When you walk out of a salon and someone asks you “what happened to your hairâ€, you know it was especially bad. I've had naturally curly hair for all of my over 40 years , and those with naturally curly hair know, we know curly hair best. I travel a lot for my job, & have been able to get my hair cut by the Oiudad salon in NYC & other Ouidad certified stylists around the country, as well as by other “curl specialists†that use other curly hair techniques. Having went through the struggle to find quality professionals to trust with my curly hair, I feel it is my duty to others with curly hair to pass along my experience at Blis Salon & what I've learned through the years. The cut Brenda gave me was far cry from anything close to a Ouidad cut & had no modern style to it at all. Though it was nice have felt like I was taken back to the early ‘90s, maybe even ‘80s, hair styles have come a long way since then and there are a lot of knowledgeable and gifted curly hair stylists that can give you a cut that has the modern style of at least in the last 10 years. Brenda may have over 30 years of experience cutting hair, but her cut style matches that of when she started cutting hair. The cut she gave me was the worst haircut I've had in my 40 years. I am not saying that the Ouidad technique isn't good, it is. I'm saying Brenda does not know what she is doing when it comes to cutting curly hair. I left there looking like a poodle with kinky curly flappy ears from the way she cut my bangs. This was the style, unfortunately, from the early ‘90s before people really starting to know how to cut curly hair. You can use that technique of framing the face for straight hair, but not for curly. Through the years, I've found some key things to look for in your curly hair stylist: -They listen to what you have to say about your hair. After all, don't you know your own hair best? I was *trying* to explain my hair type, what I like to do with it, and how I like to have it cut to Brenda, but she did not want to hear it. She would interrupt me and say she knows curly hair and what it needs. Every time I tried to tell her something, I couldn't get a full sentence out because she would interrupt me and explain how she knows exactly what to do with curly hair. She does not have a clue on how to cut & work with curly hair. Her cut was the worst I've ever had. Ever. I told her I did not want my bangs done like she did them. She did not listen to even the little I was able to get out. -They have curly hair themselves. I'm not saying that someone with straight hair cannot be good at cutting curly hair. I'm saying the best cuts I've had come from people that have curly hair. Its as if you have to have curly hair to really fully get it and know how to work with it. -They know modern hair styles and how to create them with curly hair. No doubt the style Brenda learned 30 years ago was what was fresh and new 30 years ago, but a good stylist remains current with hair styles and can create them successfully. Brenda would really benefit from learning more current hair styles. So, fellow curly cues, please save yourself a lot of money and a lot of anguish and do not let Brenda at Blis Salon touch your beautiful curly hair. I'm able to get my hair cut perfectly by others for half the price. Yes, I said half the price. These are my words of wisdom, from one curly cue to all others. I feel a civic duty to share what I've learned to others with curly hair. Be well. Do not go to Blis to get your curly hair cut. Brenda should stick to cutting straight hair. It could only be better, I would hope.
