Best local yarn shop in the Triangle! When it comes to yarns for your knitting project, you want to see it, feel it, experience it - the internet just doesn't cut it. Shopping here is a great way to pick the right yarn for your project AND support local business. Mary and the other women who work there are super knowledgeable and helpful. Saturday afternoon knitting around the table is a great way to meet other knitters, learn some tips and get the local gossip!

I was visiting ChapelHill and needed a pouch for my notions - they had a nice leather one that will last forever! Loved my purchase and the pleasant chats with staff and customers!

Took my sewing machine in for a tune-up 3 weeks ago and still have not heard back. I was told it would be a 1-week turn-around AND that I would get a call when it was ready. So far I've had no communication from them and nobody will answer my calls in the store. There is no way to leave a a voicemail. Can't tell if they just don't know how to run a business or if they're trying to steal my machine?I will update this if I ever get my machine back.Update: Machine is back, and had never even been looked at. I understand that there are things that happen (snow/COVID) but customer communication would be nice. Some of us have projects we need to be working on and want to be able to trust a turn around time on our machine. The woman was kind of rude, which I didn't appreciate. All in all, I won't go back.

I was traveling by car from the Boston area to Atlanta to visit my infant grandson. Recommended by my friend in Chapel Hill (her mother loved this store, shopping here many years ago) it was a lightening quick visit to pick up supplies to finish one little sweater and find beautiful variegated yarn for the next one. Such friendly and expert help. They were very familiar with the pattern I will use and set me up with everything needed. I am a basic knitter so this help was very much appreciated!

Nice collection of quality natural & man-made fibres, as well as tools and accessories. Mary has introduced many new lines of yarns, including locally dyed. Get expert help with your projects when you run into difficulties with a technique or don’t understand a pattern. Why buy online when you can shop locally and see the true colours and feel the yarns? Support your independent business. Frequent purchases earn a discount.

Small shop with plenty of options and a library’s worth of knitting and crochet patterns. The owner is friendly. I asked for a pattern that I had seen but didn’t know the name of. I described how it looked and she knew what I was talking about. She looked and looked through her patterns and when she couldn’t find it (I was there really close to closing time), she told me where I could find it online and gave me search terms to look up. I actually found the pattern I was looking for thanks to her instructions! I’m so grateful! I’ve been looking for this pattern for years! And I only found it thanks to this wonderfully chatty shop owner. Also, I love the yarn I bought there.

I have been a student and customer of this shop. I have found Mary Stowe to be very receptive regardless of my race. She has answered many questions and helped me to resolve project issues.I highly recommend Yarns etc. !!!

As most people in their early 30s living through quarantimes, most of my friends have decided to use the WFH opportunity to have a baby. Which means I've been crocheting a bunch of baby blankets! As such, I've been trying to find more fun yarns to crochet with. This spot was a short drive away and I'd never noticed it! I came in and found exactly what I was looking for, which were two acrylic yarns in blue and pink. They also have cashmere, alpaca yarn, and other hard-to-find stuff that looks fun.Two balls of yarn came to $14, which wasn't bad for high-quality stuff. I'll definitely come back!
