Just not a place I’d rent from in the future. Communication is not great. Had to email twice and call once and leave a voicemail before rental just to jump dates. Then we leave a day early and want to check it in early and don’t know how. Says no where in contract. Drive there and see a drop key spot. In the mean while, they never email me back concerning it or anything. Business isn’t crazy rn so a email back would’ve been minimum. We video recorded it when we left it because didn’t trust the business practice after reading reviews. Should have read before.

We booked our golf cart very last minute and SunFun Rentals was able to accommodate us. The golf cart was clean and we never had any issues. I would use them again!

We had the best time renting a golf cart from Sunfun rentals during our stay in Carolina beach! Everywhere you go you have to pay for parking so not only was it a blast but it was extremely convenient to get around and not to have to pay for parking everywhere we went. Definitely worth it!

Called on August 26 before reserving a golf cart for Saturday-Wednesday for Labor Day Weekend. I told them my wife and I would be arriving Saturday and wanted to make sure we’d be able to pick up our cart on Saturday. It says online that they’re closed on weekends but their rental office is open 10-4pm on weekends.
I confirmed that I would be able to pick up on Saturday and they tell me as long as I’m there during the 10-4 hours then it’s fine.
We arrive Saturday morning a little after 11:00 am. There’s not a single person there. I call them and leave a voicemail and I email their email address they provided with my reservation. No reply from either. I try calling again on Sunday, no answer. I call Monday at 9 am and they finally answer. I tell them what happened and they tell me to come get it then.
I drive over there to pick it up and they tell me a few weeks back that they lost all their college kids that worked there when they went back to school so they close all their offices on the weekends now, including Labor Day (which makes no sense). They agree to refund me for Saturday and Sunday but proceed to charge me over $100 MORE money after I already paid $100 when I reserved (cost for weekdays is $50 per day per their site). I bite my tongue and pay it anyway because we just want to get out of there.
When we pick up the cart, the guy there tells me they only last for 90 minutes on full charge. That’s INSANELY low for a golf cart at the beach. They must not even have the lithium batteries or they don’t maintain the carts or both. Anyway, we drive the cart for 34 minutes and it dies so we have to stop at a random house to charge it. Luckily we were close to our rental.
I call them back and tell them I’m over it and just want them to pick it up and refund me. The first lady I talked to said it was against their policy for refunds and it’s not her call. She tried to push me off the phone but I told her I want to speak to someone who can make that call. She tells me their manager, Jordan, will call me back. Jordan calls back a few minutes later and says they’ll pick up the cart and refund me. They come pick it up and then she refunds me the first $100 but I still have not seen my remaining refund. I will be calling them again to try to get the rest of the refund but after talking with some locals about our experience with SunFun, it sounds like a lot of people in the area know they’re bad.
If anyone from SunFun actually reads these reviews and cares, please know that at the recommendation of the Carolina Beach locals, I’ll be calling the Secretary of State and Better Business Bureau if things aren’t made right. I encourage others who have issues with this place do the same.
I’ve called multiple times but no one ever answers the phone.
Never rent from this place.

They were great when I bought the golf cart, but they won’t return my calls or service it. I’ve called a dozen times and sent emails to schedule a service appointment and never one return call. When I walked in they said that they were slammed and they couldn’t service it till after the season? I’ll make sure to buy my next golf cart elsewhere.

I can’t believe the ABSOLUTE NERVE of this place!!!
After my wife writes a review stating that we were evacuated from Carolina Beach State Park with 4 days left on our golf cart rental (out of a 5 day rental) due to Hurricane Debby!
The owner responds saying my wife was WRONG (or LYING) about the evacuation! What a horrible way to run a business!!!
I even offered to split the difference. Refund 2 unused days and I’ll pay for 2 unused days and they flat out said NO!
With the Carolina Beach State Park (1 mile away) closing for the safety of the people. It’s hard to believe that there’s a company out there that chooses greed over doing the humane (right) thing!!!
Also, the owner added (line 17) from the contract in the response?? IF WE HAD A PLACE TO STAY how would we’ve been able to return the cart in DRY conditions???...looks like another $250 of UNEARNED money for them (WHAT A JOKE)!!!!

Hi Julie, Our employee's work very hard to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction unfortunately we are unable to control the weather. We understand the frustration regarding Hurricane Debby but there was NO Mandated Evacuation. We would have been more than happy to refund you had you canceled your reservation 48hrs prior to the start date of your rental reservation. You, Tom and David were sent and all signed our the rental agreements back in February 2024 which states the following : 17) I understand that it is considered an operating error if I operate an golf cart during a rain storm or afterwards when roads are wet. By exposing an electric golf cart to water it places the cart at risk to get the wires wet and become temporarily inoperable customers will be charged a $250.00 fee. 24) I understand that there will be no refunds for any unused time of the cart.

I recently purchased a new golf cart with this company, our sales person was Shannon, she was awesome to deal with. I live in Northern Virginia and recently purchased a property in Oak Island North Carolina. I have been looking at several different brands of golf carts, a lot of information to take in, when I called sun fun rentals they had Shannon call me back. She spent 30 minutes with me on the phone giving me all the details and answers to my questions. We set up a time for me to come down the following week when I went down there, she walked me through show me the different Models we were able to purchase our cart that day. It already had some options on it and we added an upgrade to seat covers and a week later I asked her to put a sound bar in it something I couldn’t decide on that day but over the period of the following week, made a decision to do it , throughout this whole process, she was very good to work with, gave me ideas, sent me digital photos. I would highly recommend using her in this company if you’re looking for a golf cart anywhere in the Wilmington coast area of North Carolina.

The service staff were very friendly, clear with instructions, and the cart was so nice, convenient and easy to use to go all over the island. Having the freedom to park anywhere in Carolina Beach given the parking pass was a huge feature. Good value for the price too.

Great service and friendly workers! We had a small hiccup with the first cart we got, but we took it back and they replaced it immediately with one on the spot. I would highly recommend anyone coming to the area and looking to rent a golfcart, they come rent with SunFun!
