They don't actually deliver packages. Tracking will show it's "out for delivery" around 8AM, then just after 9 it shows "mailbox was full, unable to deliver" and hours later when the mail carrier actually comes to deliver the mail, puts the slip in the box and circles "final attempt" even though the package just arrived to the post office that day. Never even make an attempt to deliver. They could really learn from the private/professional delivery folks (UPS/FedEx) on how to actually deliver packages. USPS really needs to stop accepting packages since they can't seem to deliver them all the way.
Who do I submit my mileage and time to for reimbursement for having to drive into the post office to finish their job for them of getting the package to its final delivery address???

The counter staff is friendly and courteous. But that's about it for praise. I've lived coast to coast in towns smaller than Canton and in major cities and I've never come across a post office that can't figure out how to deliver packages like this one. There is no set procedure. I've had packages put in plastic bags and left in the rain. The same size package has been deemed non-deliverable and kept at the office on a cloudless day. I've signed paperwork that every non-deliverable package stay at the office. But apparently any time they have a "sub" driver they can't read procedures and they take it out anyway. Which is fun because then you go to the office with the slip that says you can pick up on the same day but their driver is nowhere to be seen. So you waste a trip. But if it isn't a sub driver they will keep it in the office....sometimes. We send and receive a fair number of packages and this location always seems like it's their first day on the job in regards to anything that isn't in an envelope. I purposely choose to pay more for shipping via UPS or FedEx when available because they can be trusted with something as crazy as a box.

Apparently, they need more funding for more drivers with shorter routes because performance is abysmal. Packages I've ordered have been returned to sender without even an attempt at delivery. Other times, delivery will be "attempted" but not done because of a "gate code" that does not exist. Every time I have gotten a slip saying it's oversized or whatever and can't be delivered, I'll drive the 40 minute round trip to the office and staff there has been lovely.

I have lived in a few places. This is hands down the best USPS I’ve ever had to work with. They are very patient whenever I have a question about picking the right size packages or type of service. I also ship a lot of packages for online business. A huge reason why I choose to remain living in this area. They always provide a receipt and update package status. Much faster and more professional than any place I’ve ever been to. Also great place to pick up collection stamps!

All I can say is WOW.........USPS system needs fixing and employees need education on going above and beyond is serving clients. My package scheduled for delivery yesterday wasn't delivered due "insufficient address"? Address was correct but Canton office placed it on wrong route so delivery person had no idea where my address is in Canton. I guess Google Maps isn't a thing with the post office?!?!?! I tried calling post office but they were closed by the time they sent me the text saying undeliverable. Tried calling USPS 800#....OMG they do everything possible to be sure you can never speak to a human being - never did get through to a live person and gave up. Called the vendor where I purchased from and they showed package was being returned to sender. Called the local office this morning and was explained package was placed on wrong route and that yesterdays delivery person only has limited options to select when scanning a package that he/she couldn't deliver. In the meantime I spent tremendous amount of time trying to determine status of my package yesterday, very frustrated that 1) someone in Canton location wasn't focused enough to properly place my package on correct route, 2) that their messaging to me on issue was so not true which created much confusion on my part 3) the local office seemed pretty much unconcerned at the bad experience this all created for me. I suppose this is the world we live in now - no one cares.

Canton Post Office has been a nightmare. First they told me and my neighbors they where going to stop delivering our mail because our road needed to be fixed. I had no problem at all getting my little Toyota Corolla in and out, but for some reason the road was hurting the Jeep of the person delivering the mail. So what I did was go get a PO box. I thought it was reasonable at $54 every six months. But that didn't last. I was informed it was going up 100% to $108 every six months. Of course I complained, and even wrote my local congressman asking why. I got no response, and shouldn't have expected to being the current Postmaster General is in the same political party he is. It doesn't matter to two rich guys the rate went up a whopping 100%. I decided to just pay it. The thing is I had no choice, because of automatic renewal. it was taking out of my checking, along with the money I had planned to go on a religious retreat with. No matter how I tried I could not turn off automatic renewal. It went up again this time to $111 every six months. I looked into getting another PO box and discovered Canton Post Office is more expensive than any other in all of Haywood, and Buncombe counties, and have been since the paper mill closed. Maybe they had to raise their prices because the plant closed. Clyde Post Office is $26 cheaper every six months and $52 cheaper every 12 months. Either way I could no longer afford a PO Box, so I had my dad come help me put my old mailbox up. That's been nearly two weeks now, and I'm still not getting my mail. Something about it may take up to two weeks, even though I have lived at the same address for 22 years. When I called to see if I had any mail today I was told I had one piece. So I went there only to be told they couldn't find anything. I guess they don't care how expensive gas is either. I would like to give a big thank you to the charity that paid to fix my neighbors and mine road. If it wasn't for them I would still have no choice but to pay for a PO box.

I have got to commend Judy at the Canton PO for the awesome help she gave us. We sent Christmas packages but unfortunately put the wrong address. She took the extra effort to intercept the packages and made sure a little boy had a Merry Christmas. Thanks for going above and beyond.

We NEVER receive any packages. They reject all of them, and don't attempt to deliver.

In-office staff are fine, but lord help you if you need stuff delivered to a parcel locker nowhere near your house. Package required a signature, which I wasn't aware of when I ordered (that part's on me). No effort was made to collect a signature or contact me to request one, other than the default "delivery failed" slip left in my box; this place has had my phone number and e-mail address for YEARS, and was provided again when I placed my order. I schedule redelivery the next day and provide my contact information AGAIN, explicitly requesting that I receive a text prior to attempted delivery and so I can meet at the parcel box to provide a signature (something that the print-out of the request passive-aggressively left in my box today conveniently omits). So I guess I'll have to collect my package from the post office because the delivery person doesn't feel like doing their job and doesn't have the self-awareness or respect for others to find a different job.

They don’t even come to the door knock to let you know you have a delivery they just leave a note in the mail box and and you have to go get your package yourself
