I wouldn't work for this company or have this company move you. They don't move things the correct way, always in a hurry (meaning they don't care how your things are packed or placed), they have people meeting up with them at costumers houses while moving to buy "things" off that person, one guy smelled like bootleggers and vodka all day. I've watched 2,000$ furniture get thrown around in the warehouse and not taken care of. I've personally watched them over charge people by making the workers stand on the scale at the shop. They don't care about your personal items/ sentimental items. They don't value their own word with even their employees. They let me go after I got hurt outside of work because my doctor said I didn't need knee surgery and when I tried coming back with a doctors note of full release they said their insurance won't allow me to work there anymore.

I would give this company branch in North Charleston SC zero stars if I could. Worst move ever and we have moved over 16 times. If you want your furniture broken, dented, scratched, and items missing this is the company for you. They broke the leg off a mantle clock, cracked the bottom of the top part of a two piece dining hutch in two places, broke the knobs off a blanket chest, broke the spindle on my living room windsor chair, broke the bottom trim piece off a tv cabinet, mishandled our two antique grandfather clocks and am missing a leather coat. Go elsewhere for your move. They removed my negative review from their site also.

I still remember this company, after four years, as being the worst move of my life! (This after 14 military and government moves!) It was traumatic. The move came in two shipments with items lost. The local hire appeared to be under the influence, and was brought Into my new home by the driver. Working with their staff after the move was frustrating and agonizing. So much so, I’m finally writing a review four years later. I really hope they cleaned up their act, but beware!

A terrible experience! Lack of communication and definitely a lack of professionalism. We were never provided copies of any of the documentation we were asked to sign on a IPad that was cracked (preventing us from even reading what we were signing). A few days after the move, when I asked Smith Dray for a copy of the inventory that was done as our items were unloaded from the moving van, I was told that that was our responsibility and that the driver of the van should have told us so. He never did. We've moved several times over the years and NEVER has a moving company made this the responsibility of the customer! While the loading process went relatively smooth, unloading was an absolute nightmare. The driver had hired 2 local men to help. One of them (Ed) was absolutely wired and way full of energy, and rambled on about how he was the best in the field. He was rushing as though he had somewhere to be in an hour, dropping things along the way. When he dropped the mattress, he just continued dragging it to the storage unit. Then I noticed he was getting ready to load a heavy wicker chair on top of an $800 Weber Grill without any protection to prevent denting. When I asked him to please not do that, he got agitated, flew off the handle, stormed out of the room, and began yelling he wasn't going to do anything else. This rage continued for the remaining hour he was there. There were 4 men unloading a storage unit directly next to ours and one asked me where we found this guy. In the end, there was damage to a custom dining room table, two leather chairs and a marble accent table (the latter they refused to repair). We were not given the opportunity to inspect every piece of furniture as they took it off the truck, so there's no telling what we'll find when we finally move everything into our new home next month (not to mention what is damaged in the many boxes we had). SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND FIND ANOTHER COMPANY.

I moved from Pompano Beach FL using Smith -Dray lines in March 2021. My contents went into storage and was delivered in June of 2021 to Hendersonville NC. I have made 7 professional moves associated with an executive relocation.I have never had such an incompetent move. Furniture that was in perfect condition arrived scraped, scratched, gouged and missing pieces. Art work was put wire back to the front of the frame with no paper or padding in between. Broken China and crystal during unpacking, and then the person unpacking dishes lied to me and said they broke a light bulb.“Floor protection” was put down on the hardwood and travertine floors that delaminated and left a 3 foot by yards and yards of sticky residue. When I called to report the problem the secretary tried to blame it on me! The men removing the adhesive dumped every cleaner on my floor. Nothing worked until they finally listened to me and used denatured alcohol.During the claims process they asked for back-up data. I mailed it to them certified mailed. It is still at the post office as they have failed to pick it up.I have NEVER dealt with a more incompetent, unprofessional group. The movers that came to FL had one individual that became so surly and belligerent that he just threw our possessions in boxes with no padding or protection.Do yourself a favor NEVER use this moving company!

The team who came to our home to move us were professional and meticulous with our belongings which meant a lot to us as you cannot put a price tag on keepsakes, family heirlooms, and memories. We were particularly worried about our Yamaha Disklavier baby grand as it is a beautiful black player/recorder piano and moving can be tricky with those big pianos! Travis, Tad, Gary, and Logan treated our piano as if it were their own right down to packaging the music in preparation to move! And we couldn't send in this review without sharing our experience working with the ladies who coordinated our move. Sara and Dannett were aware of our deadline to move out of our home quickly in order for the new homeowners to take possession. Sara worked us in one evening to estimate the cost of our move and to get us scheduled for the move. We had a sale closing and a buyers closing all in one week. And, the buyers closing was in another state! Dannett stepped up to get us thru the paperwork and set up our payment for the move. Both Dannett and Sara were helpful in answering questions and making sure we were all set to go. We will highly recommend the moving team at Smith Dray Line to our friends in NC. Thank you all! Experience was wonderful. Easy communication and great packers. One packer “Scott” found a very valuable and sentimental piece of jewelry hiding behind the master headboard and brought it to my attention. Very honest and responsible. This is my. second move with this company and I continue to be impressed

From start to finish these guys were professionals. They were efficient and made sure to pack our valuables with the upmost care. They were passionate about their job and took pride in their customer service. We will definitely be calling them again for our next move!

We moved from near Asheville to Raleigh Oct. 1, 2020.I will have to brag on the moving team we had with Smith Dray. Mark Poteat was the BEST, and his team of Christie & Tad, along with Bella who helped pack, just made this a terrific move. I have never seen such amazing work ethic and energy! They were all such fun to get to know and easy to work with. I actually missed them after spending nearly three full days with them!As I unpacked, I could just feel the care that Christie put nto packing my items. She is phenomenal !It has been my pleasure to work with this company. From the Rep., Sarah, who first gave us our quote, to office staff like Dannett, who communicated with us, all were so patient with me and so kind, understanding and helpful. Thank you, Smith Dray for a great move !

With Covid-19 precautions keeping any strong-backed friends away, I figured I'd hire some help for my move from Morganton to Asheville. The office staff at Smith Dray Line was accommodating and answered all my questions. The moving team, Akia and Bruce arrived promptly, were friendly and professional. I have mostly hand-me-down furniture: pre-scuffed and not valuable, but HEAVY. All was packed with care and they made quick work of it. Cost was a great deal for all the work they saved me. I'll almost certainly use this company for my next move.
