My car was shifting terribly so I brought it here for a diagnosis. He took one look at it, called Ford, and told me the thing that was broken was under recall and told me to go to Egolf but that the part was under a 1 year waitlist. He didn't charge me because he said it took him 5 seconds, plus the call to Ford, and that I already had enough to deal with.I went to Egolf and they said the waitlist was finally over and they'd be able to fix it in less than a week!!! Egolf also said it may need a new clutch but that we won't know until they replace the broken part. If I do end up needing a new clutch I will DEFINITELY go to Brown's.AMAZING customer service, both on the phone and in-person!!! The diagnosis took a day or two longer than initially quoted, but I fully understand it's a small, specialized garage and I have literally no complaints whatsoever, just praise.GO. TO. BROWN'S. ???

I was stranded on the side of the road in Pisgah National Forest. I called around looking for help. Caleb from Browns Transmission was willing to come out , find the problem, go back to his shop, get parts and fix my car. Nicest guy you could hope to meet. Definitely recommend these folks. Saved my day of fishing too.

Browns saved me many $1000’s over eGolf replacement of the transmission price that failed just after my extended warranty expired because eGolf refused to work on it before expiration until it failed completely and left me strandedBrowns diagnosed and test drove and tried an aftermarket additive in spring really affordably but it finally broke and threw a code. Even though they were completely covered up when I was ready they stored the van for the duration and when a couple unrelated battery and O2 sensor things failed they chose to fix both no charge by applying my payment for the fist visit as a credit. Now it starts fast, shifts like new and appears to have the perfect oxygen level.I’m not saying they will do you the same…just saying that they did me that well. What a mega difference from eGolf gouging me for $500 on the coolant reservoir bottle replacement they did last year and the $50 they charged for a gallon of anti-freeze.

They are super nice & straight up with you, don't want you to pay anymore than you have to but do excellent work. Just hard to get in there because they always stay busy but that speaks volumes.

I want to thank Caleb, he was the only one who would work on my transmission, it's a hybrid. Very professional and courteous. I had to pull my car out, and he gave me plenty of advice to pass on to a retired mechanic who's a church member of mine. If I could afford to wait for him to fix it, I would have in a heart beat. Very knowledgeable and professional shop. Charged me 1/3 of price for diagnosing. When 5 other shops charged me for diagnosis but refused to work on my car.Service: Transmission

I've been an auto tech since the mid '70 s. So never let others do my work for me. Since retiring to Brevard in 2018, I gave up doing my own work. The old adage 'a good mechanic is hard to find' does not apply to Brown's Transmission. Caleb is a stand-up guy who values good customer service and stands behind his work. Thank you for a pleasant experience!
