Well, I’m going on a few weeks of missed calls.
This time from practice manager about the refund the vet said I would receive for incomplete labs.
After they collected the blood portion they said I would be responsible for collecting and dropping off urine and feces during their ever shrinking open hours. I specifically reminded the vet I work out of town and asked what would happen if I couldn’t return a sample.
The vet said I would receive an automatic refund for the rest. My daughter was at the appointment with me and remembers the conversation. Would you believe they still haven’t provided a refund a month later?
They also didn’t call me about the lab results. I’ve paid for 3, and have zero results for senior lab work.
They also refuse to validate prescription meds with outside companies like Chewy. They claimed Chewy tried to gain access to their customer list but after this interaction it seems more like disparaging another company and their new owners just want to make sure you can only fill Rxs their from their narrow number of brands they set higher prices for.
Save yourself the misinformation, disappointment waiting on hold, unreturned calls, and difficult service. Go to another vet.

The staff is very professional and I feel like they are genuine. Also, the place is very clean and that is so important to me.

As a pet parent that has an anxious pup, it is exhausting and very stressful to go to the vets. But pet care clinic and Lizz from my most recent visit went above and beyond. Thankful for vets such as Dr. Sturgill; who has been great for my pup and myself in the past, and Lizz from this most recent visit.

In May 2023, I traveled here to the Highcountry with my German Shepherd that but had pneumonia and was taking antibiotic shots daily. It was a three month process he was on the second month. We ran out of sterile water that is mixed for the antibiotic injection for his daily dose. So my only alternative was to go to the clinic since he had already been there the prior year for a routine visit. I was hoping they could give me a vile of the Stillwater so I can mix his antibiotic. They told me they couldn’t give it to me because it was for their internal uses of emergencies. This was definitely an emergency as he was not supposed to miss a dose. They didn’t want to give it to me. My vet eventually sent it FedEx package And my dog missed three doses.
Just recently, I traveled out here to Boone and forgot to pack the dog’s Interceptor and NexGuard flea and heart worm prevention dosages. I called my vet and asked them to write me a prescription so I could buy some locally up here in Boone. I was hoping that “The Pet Care Clinic of the High Country” would sell me the 2 packs since they had my dog in their database. I took my two prescriptions with me to the clinic and they still didn’t want to give me any.
From my two experiences with the Pet Care Clinic of the High Country, it seems to me that they really do not care too much about animals and more about their pockets. TOTALLY UNHELPFUL CLINIC. In both instances, if they cared, they would’ve come through and helped! Sorry to say, but this place has “0” rating as far as I’m concerned.

My family recently moved to Boone and one of our cats was not feeling well and we took her to this clinic. They were quick to get her in for an appointment and needed to send her bloodwork out to a lab to determine what was wrong with her. They explained that sending the bloodwork out would take 2 days to get results - that was on a Wednesday. We expected to get results on Friday but never heard from them. We anxiously waited over the weekend and was sure we would get results on Monday. After not hearing from them, I called on Monday afternoon and the receptionist said that they were really busy and she would try to get a Vet Tech to call me that afternoon but we still did not receive a call. My husband called just minutes before the office closed on Monday and they told him that the veterinarian (Dr. Sturgill) was not in and they would get her to call when she got in at 8am on Tuesday morning. Once again, no call on Tuesday morning, so my husband called at 1pm to ask when we would be able to get the results from last Wednesday. The receptionist put him on hold and then told him that they once again were VERY busy and that no one could talk to him at that time and that someone would call later in the day. Tomorrow it will be 1 week since they saw our sick cat and we still have NO IDEA what is wrong with her. Unfortunately we have already paid them to sedate her and run the tests or we would take her somewhere else that isn't too busy to help us treat our sick cat.

After not finding many options for exotic pet care in Boone, I took my guinea pig to see Dr. Russell and was absolutely thrilled with the level of care she and her team provided. When the unfortunate time came to euthanize, Dr. Russell could not have been more compassionate and informative in her approach. I wouldn’t have asked for a better way to do a very hard thing. If more stars could be given, I would. Thank you!!

Lovely people, attentive and gentle doctor. I took three cats in for checkups and followed up with dental surgery for one. My cat is doing so well and has no discomfort, and the office called to check on him as well. I have to drive an hour to get to this vet but it is well worth the drive for their kind attention and caring attitude.

Dr. Sturgill and Elizabeth (Liz) took great care of my little dog today. They have amazing caring demeanors and stayed past closing time to ensure we had a good plan for our dog. When your pet is like your child, you want these two to be on duty.

Had great things to say about this office until a week after my cat was seen her paw started to look infected. They had told me to look out for these signs and contact them so we could put her on some antibiotics. I called yesterday to let them know and was told I’d be put on a call back for the vet. Okay. Before they closed yesterday I called again and asked when I should expect this call and was told maybe before they close and if not then, then tomorrow (today). I waited all day today until about an hour before they closed and tried calling them and met their voicemail. Luckily my cats paw isn’t giving me as much concern, but I find it very unprofessional to brush something like this off and not contact me back when they said they would. Disappointed to say the least.
Edited to add: They called back this morning (two days after my initial call) and claimed they were waiting for a photo from me sent to their email. I was never informed to send a photo to their email. Clearly a lack of communication going on.
