Good folks, but literally no inventory. Basically no waders / boots / fly boxes on multiple visits in the past months. fly selection is very lackluster and they are out of probably 80% of their stock. It’s been this way for a pretty good while, and I hear it’s unlikely to change.They’ll say they are getting more product in soon or that the season is shifting, but nothing changes and the store has been pretty much empty all October/November in peak fishing season. No flies or gear has come in probably 3 months or so. Shop was great a year or two ago but it’s really gone downhill and whoever is in charge of the ordering has failed to provide a good fly shop. Hoping it turns around, they’re always helpful in the store!

Floor staff are great, but absolutely no inventory in store. I’ve come in multiple times trying to spend money on fishing gear and there has not been any restocks for months now. Not sure what the situation is but they aren’t buying gear and are unable to fulfill the vast majority of fly fishing needs in store.

My husband and I experienced our first fly fishing trip. Corey Murphy was our guide and he was wonderful. Corey is very knowledgeable of the area and all the streams. Corey not only guided us to some great spots but also helped us to learn about the streams, the trout, their habits, feeding, etc. We were lucky and caught several trout during the day. We certainly caught our share of “tree” fish and “rock” fish throughout the day but Corey always put us at ease and never lost his patience. We throughly enjoyed talking with Corey and he made our first experience well worth the trip. We’re already talking about trying a float trip in the future.Thank You Corey!!!

Great location but little to no inventory and the staff is more interested in drinking and talking then helping the customer.

Booked a float trip on the Watauga early last spring with Alyssa. Despite incredibly awful weather, she put us on fish and made it a great day. Also did an excellent job teaching my novice fishing partner. Really a special experience. Can't say enough good things.

We did a half day wade trip with Corey in Nov-22 to celebrate our anniversary and had a blast!We ended up with a very rainy weekend in Blowing Rock, so figured fly fishing out be a good way to spend it, especially if we were going to be wet anyway. We booked fairly last minute, but the shop was very helpful. They generally need you to book at least a day in advance, since the trips start around 8am, and they don't want to surprise a guide with a newly booked afternoon trip while they're out on the water. The weather didn't bother them at all which was great news for us.They'll provide you with everything you need - quality waders, waterproof boots, poles, etc. You just need to bring yourself and whatever jacket / layers you want. The waders had waterproof pockets as well so phones didn't get wet.Corey was a fantastic guide - very friendly, patient and helpful. He had a genuine love for the job and it showed. He even met us early (7:30am) so we could get out ahead of any other guided groups. With all our rain, there was a lot of leaves / debris in the water, but he patiently helped us unhook them and took us to a ton of different spots in hopes of finding good fish populations. All tours are catch and release - it's nice to see them support conservation.Even though we didn't catch much, we had an awesome time on the water and hope to go out with them again!

Awesome trip in the Carolina mountains! My guide Kirby taught me so much in the time we had. He not only put me on the browns he took the time and really gave me a great education. Going back next month and bringing friends!!! Thanks Kirby!!!

I contacted Boone’s Fly Shop to set up my first fly fishing trip. They hooked me up with Nate. He was a great guide! I learned a lot and had a great time. Awesome experience.

Took a 3/4 day wade trip with my brother and brother in law. We had a great time with Kole and Kirby as our guides. They were very knowledgeable and patient. We were all first time trout fly fishers yet Kole and Kirby had us catching fish in short order. We are hooked, pardon the pun, so we'll be back.

Nick and Nate took three of us (ages 17-72) out on a half-day trip yesterday. We were all beginner to novice skill levels. Learned a lot and caught many fish. Nick and Nate know the local streams and what the fish are biting. Very good teachers. The equipment provided was also good. Would definitely recommend choosing either or both of these two guides and Boone's Fly Shop.

We had Alyssa for a half day float and it was so much fun! She was very nice and very patient with us! We loved getting to float down the river with her. She was fun to hang out with and she got us on some great fish!! Super knowledgeable and talented guide. She knew the river very well! Highly recommend doing a float with Alyssa!!

Nick and Ben were wonderful guides on our fishing trip to the Boone area. Both are very knowledgeable fisherman and know the area quite well. As a result of a heavy rain storm our families fishing trip got pushed back a day. Nonetheless, both guides were extremely accommodating, which we greatly appreciated. The enthusiasm and passion Ben and Nick possess for fishing made our trip a fun and memorable one. We have nothing but great things to say about the time we spent with these fishing guides.

Ken Rice and I had a great float trip yesterday in eastern Tennessee with guide Corey Murphy. It was our second outing with Corey and he never disappoints. He is so knowledgeable about all aspects of trout fishing and local lore and he’s patient with novice trout fishermen. We’re already planning a return trip in the Fall. I highly recommend this guide.

I recently booked an east Tennessee float trip with guide Alyssa Adcock through Boone’s Fly Shop. I’ve been guided by some winners and some duds over the years and this one was a winner. Guides can’t guarantee a catch or perfect weather, but they can give us the best chances to have an enjoyable time. If you are looking for a guide who is both professional and personal, with an infectious love for the outdoors and passion and skill for fly fishing, you can’t go wrong with Alyssa. In my opinion, she holds her own with any of the best guides in the area. Highly recommended!
