This place is awesome, they have great rates, their equipment is great, clean and works well. The staff is very helpful knowledgeable and took good care of us. Special shoutout to the evening crew Tyler and Ethan who were very helpful and provided great assistance.

We heard mixed reviews going before going in. The guys behind the rental counter were kind and helpful. The equipment worked perfectly. Return process was easy. I do believe we should have been charged for half day rentals instead of full, but didn't realize that until we left. Ill call and ask about that and post the response.

We had a decent experience at 1st Tracks with one significant exception. We chose to rent from this shop because they are open late. We even discussed the time we needed to arrive to pick up rentals with the staff when we made our reservation. Unfortunately, when we arrived at 8:59 PM (2 hours prior to closing), the person running the reservation counter decided to close early because no one had come in over the past couple of hours. They locked the doors but opened them to tell us to come back in the morning. Had we known this was a possibility, we would not have bothered renting from here.
All that said - the next morning - the people assisting us in were kind and helpful.

The family and I was on our way to go skiing this weekend then of course, I forgot my snow pants!! It was past 9pm and I didn't want to get up early to go buy some if I could help it. As we was on our way to our resort I saw this store as we were passing it. I hurried up and busted a u-turn not knowing when the store was going to close. As I was running into the store was greeted with two VERY helpful associates. They was able to help me find my snow pants at a very decent price! Thank you for your help!! If you are in the Banner Elk area and are needing some skiing equipment with great customer service. I would highly recommend this place!! ?

Stopped by this store and we weren’t too impressed. We needed help with a boot fit and they didn’t seem too inclined to assist. We are going to Banner Elk (Alpine Ski Center). Don’t waste your time like we did at First Tracks.

Wouldn’t return kid gloves within 12 hours. Used for 5 minutes, right size, slips off. We discovered it had bad stitching inside fingers, manufactures defect or bad design. Was planning to buy a different glove but they did not even have the size of the gloves we needed in a different style to buy. Spent over $300 there, $40 on bad gloves, wish I took my business somewhere else.

I rented a snowboard and boots for the weekend. The first day, a screw fell out of the bindings while I was at the top of the mountain and I had to make my way down. I rented another board from beech mountain and continued. When I returned the equipment I told them what happened and they refused to give me any kind of refund. They got all my information and I was told a manager would reach out to me. I never received a call and they took my money. My advice rent from the ski resort, if anything happens they can fix it there and you won't waste your money.

Great experience. It was our first time snowboarding and James was so patient with us. He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and understood how everything worked. We will absolutely be back!

Was putting my son a snowboard first time 3.5 yo, staff was helpful and patient. Even found a smaller sized boot for him in the back. Opens a brand new box. We initially rented for 3 days however decided to do snow tubing the following day. The store policy is only store credit however we live in miami and would most likely not be able to use the credit in the future. Supper thankful that the store manager who was also very knowledgeable in skiing and snowboard equipment was able to make an exception and give us a refund.

We rented skis from 1st tracks for the new year holiday weekend. Pricing is reasonable and the staff was super friendly and helpful. They were obviously busy with it being a holiday weekend, but check in, fitting, and picking up our gear was easy and efficient. Despite being busy, the staff took time to make good recommendations on gear for a skier of my size and skill, and as a result I felt better and more confident on my skis than I ever have on rented gear. We will definitely continue renting from 1st tracks!
