I finally took my husband and boys out to P.R. Moores Produce in Biscoe, NC yesterday to try Karen's Fried Pies & More. I heard about her from Southern Living magazine a few years ago and finally made it out there. We made a quick stop at a friend’s in Oakboro and then enjoyed the drive in the Uwharrie National Forest. The boys had fun looking around, and picking out “a treat”, which I thought was the apple, but turned out to be candied jellies. (Surprise, surprise ?). My husband and I got one bourbon pecan and one sweet potato fried pie, plus an Apple fritter. We also brought home some Arkansas black apples, which I recently learned about and wanted to try. The whole experience was a fun adventure, and Karen’s baked goods are divine! That Apple fritter was literally the best I’ve ever had. (Sorry, no pictures of baked goods. Also, no judgment allowed. ?)
