Fruits & Veggies near Biscoe, NC

“I finally took my husband and boys out to P.R. Moores Produce in Biscoe, NC yesterday to try Karen's Fried Pies & More. I heard about her from Southern Living magazine a few years ago and finally made it out there. We made a quick stop at a friend’s in Oakboro and then enjoyed the drive in the Uwharrie National Forest. The boys had fun looking around, and picking out “a treat”, which I thought was the apple, but turned out to be candied jellies. (Surprise, surprise ?). My husband and I got one bourbon pecan and one sweet potato fried pie, plus an Apple fritter. We also brought home some Arkansas black apples, which I recently learned about and wanted to try. The whole experience was a fun adventure, and Karen’s baked goods are divine! That Apple fritter was literally the best I’ve ever had. (Sorry, no pictures of baked goods. Also, no judgment allowed. ?)”

“Is there anything better than a juicy peach in the summer?! Chappell’s always delivers! Can’t go wrong with any of the fresh produce, but definitely try the melons and, of course, the apples in the fall. Always the kindest people serving you, too. Love supporting them!”

“Usually love to get ice cream here, but today’s wasn’t up to par. The butter pecan was FULL of nuts, which is fine, but is was not sweet at all, and it ran like a fountain from the time I was handed the cone. Half of it went into the trash. Just wasn’t good. Will do better on my next trip when I ask if it is actually frozen and if it has sugar. Disappointed. ?”
