Dr. John takes such heart warming care of all of my dogs past and present as if they were his own!! Love him. The staff is always friendly and helpful! We had to put our fur baby down years ago and they helped and held my hand and kept me from falling in grief. Could not ask for better support! Love ya'll

My husband and I adopted Cupcake 4 years ago from a local rescue. About a month after we got her, she had a knot show up on her chest. We made the appointment and upon showing up the staff was so nice and friendly. We were welcomed with open arms and they already knew her because the rescue takes their animals here too. The staff was helpful, nice, educated on processes and breeds. Cupcake, who has been stand offish and timid with strangers, was Soooo excited to be at the Vet. That was a change ha ha. The doctor came in, talked us through what they were doing, took the sample and told us it needed to be taken off. We told them we could not pay for the surgery and the staff called the rescue and they volunteered to pay for the surgery so all we had to pay for was the visit, the test and the pathology which was much less than the surgery. This Vet office truly cares about not just your pet but your pocketbook. They are absolutely amazing. We will be moving out of the area soon and will be over an hour away, but we will make the drive for the quality of care. Keep up the great work and I don't know how anyone would take their pet anywhere else!!!!!

I brought my guinea pig in for a neuter and was given zero information about the procedure how to care for my pig afterward. The lady at the front desk was asking me questions about the surgery saying do I want this or this without even explaining what it was. I was honestly confused but since everyone seemed so nonchalant I thought everything would be okay. I had originally thought I would of sat down with the doctor and talked about the procedure but none of that happened. They just took peach away and gave me nothing but a time to come pick him up. Well after I came back everything looked okay. Until I got home. He was swollen like a melon. The next day the pet hospital called and I told them the situation, they said to put some ice on it and he would be fine. Well I left for work and when I came home, his incision had opened and he was sitting there for hours with his stomach on the floor crying for help. It was extremely pitiful and even now when I think of it I want to cry. We rushed him to an emergency hospital and they told me there was nothing we can do, that his intestines were already dead and we had to put him down.. The next day I called doctor lastella and he told me that he thinks Peach had ripped out his incision. He told me that 1 out of every 10 guinea pigs he neuters intestines fall out from this exact situation... 1 OUT OF EVERY 10!!! I was never given that information beforehand or any information at all! If I would of known that I would of taken the day off to watch him. ALL I CAN SAY IS I REGRET GOING HERE AND I DONT WANT YOU TO MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. The reason I decided to get Peach neutered was because I loved him so much and wanted to keep him for a long time. I have other girl guineas and got him very young not knowing he was male. I soon fell in love with him and decided neuter was what we wanted to do. Be smart and go somewhere a little more professional. Surgery (even neuter) is serious especially on little guinea pigs. Also do your research.

Very dissatisfied with the service I received here from the office staff. I know that due to COVID-19 that things have changed in customer service but having to stand outside in the heat and with bad knees because the office staff will only let one person in at a time is difficult. My little dog had broken her foot and they were able to fit me in and placed a splint on her foot and told me to bring her in on the following Monday for a recheck but they would have to fit her in because they had no appts available. Well when we went on Monday at 9:00 am on Monday there were at least 8 or 9 people lined up to just get in the door to check in. With my bad knees I called them and asked if I could come on a Tuesday at 3:00 pm which they agreed to. When I got there at 2:20 which was a little early they did not have any record that I had changed to Tuesday. After sitting in the parking lot for 40 minutes and seeing another long line I gave up. If the vet wants to recheck your pet after an injury you should be given a certain time to be there and not say we will fit her in. When I asked for an appointment they were going to give me an appt which was 30 days from today's date. Also was told later that the wrong pager # was written down. This practice in my point of view cares very little about their clients.

The Pet Hospital is one of the best veterinarian hospitals/exam establishment that I have ever used! This business was run by Dr. Nuenzig, the gentleman that started the Banfield Clinics in Pet Smart. If you are looking for the best care ever, for your four legged children, then this is the place! Dr. John is fabulous and a caring vet. The staff is so wonderful as well! If you want the best for your "child", then this is the place! ❤❤

Dr. John is the BEST! He has been my vet for over 15 years! We have been through many dogs and he has always taken very good care of them! The staff is not the friendliest in the world, but it is a very busy office! Yes may not have a fancy office, but his prices reflect that! Dr. John is the lowest priced vet in this area! People drive hours to see Dr. John!

I can't say enough good things about this vet. Dr. John and all the staff are top notch. Over the years my pets have been seen by every doctor and vet tech at this clinic, and my pets consistently receive great care. I am comfortable and confident in the staff's ability to provide treatment. All the staff are just wonderful!

I had to bring my darling Rat Dora here to be euthanized after her cancerous tumor had went too far. I called about twenty places and eventually settled on here because other vets were quoting me $100-$200 & here they said it'd only be $33. I arrive & the interior of the place is pretty worn down & old. This doesn't matter tremendously but there was not a whole lot of care shown to the waiting area & it was far from comfortable or pleasing. The woman next to me confided that she has been taking her little dog here for its whole 8 year life & that she feels that the staff does not look after the best interest of her dog & overmedicates her & doesn't listen to her as an owner. She asked me if I had recommendations for another vet. This obviously I can't confirm but it did put a bad taste in my mouth. The receptionists are the worst part of the whole operation. The younger blonde receptionist stared into my face silently, not greeting me when I first came in with my baby, just scowling and refusing to speak, to say anything. It was just bizarre, her customer service skills was unbelievably lacking & when she did speak to me to confirm my sign-in she was simply rude & had the aura of a disgruntled fast food employee. The darker haired woman who checked me out was not quite as nasty as the first one but still lacked normal customer service. No greeting whatsoever, just a blank stare until I told her I was there to pay. It was strange, I was standing in line after the procedure & I had to be the one to tell her I was trying to pay, it was as if she had no clue what I was standing there for. Once I paid that was it, no "thank you" "have a good day" nothing. I just handed her the money and she took it silently & just stood there until I walked away. This place definitely has socially inept, strange people working the front. As for the actual procedure, I was not happy with how long it took for my baby to actually die. Once the medication was injected she lay panting for about five minutes & it was disturbing & extremely sad. I have had numerous other pets out to sleep over the years & it's never been as rough as this one was. However, I'm just grateful that a small town place like this would even perform the service, and at a much smaller price than anywhere else. The vet & her assistant were much more sympathetic to my rats plight & to my emotions & showed care & respect for her. Overall, it was an ok place to go but I wouldn't call it "good." Go if you have to but don't expect anything very nice

I have an old dog and he had some serious health issues. Dr. John LaStella was able to add some new medicines and has dramatically improved my dogs quality of life. He's also sleeping better since he's not waking up coughing every night. They also have treated my daughter's dog since birth. Great Vet! Small town service with love and concern for your pet.

I brought my dog Buster, who had been throwing up for days, to The Pet Hospital in Bessemer City because they were recommended to me by a friend. She said they were really good and much cheaper than vet offices in Charlotte - which is where my long term vet office is located. Dr. John LaStella said he had an obstruction in his abdomen that would require surgery to remove since he hadn't been able to pass it yet. I told him that I didn't have much money right from the start and he totally worked with me on it. It was Friday when I brought him in and he kept the dog all weekend. By Monday morning, Buster was back to his old self. Dr. John asked me to bring him back in for a re-check and didn't even charge me for it. I won't be taking my animals anywhere else again. Reviewer Tammy Stephens has hit every major review site with her lousy review and has referred to my personal review in her comments. I admit that I am purposely trying to undo her bad press. Tammy, I've read your diatribe and it looks like your biggest problem is you. My dog didn't require round the clock care which is why it stayed all weekend. You let 7 puppies die before taking the last one in? You obviously can read, so did you not notice the hours of operation posted on the door? And do you honestly expect a veterinarion to stay in business by doing work for free? From what I see in your review, the doctor checked your animal like you asked (office visit charge at least), and prepped your animal so that you could take it to emergency - which you most assuredly have never been to before because there is no way you would have gotten off as cheap as $95. Time to take responsibility, chic. You killed your puppy by waiting and thinking that prayer would save it. You blame the doctor for its demise and you probably should not have any more pets. You wouldn't have allowed a child to wait so long before seeking medical treatment.
