My experience tonight made me want to give a one star…but with past experience here I’m hoping this was a fluke with having a condescending girl at the Rental desk. We came in at 2030 to rent an adult snowboard and two kids boards. Instead of explaining why “we don’t have those” she giggled saying “I don’t know when or if they will come in.” Then as I was trying to ask about if they had board’s scheduled to come back in the morning she looked away and walked off smiling. We decided to head down to Alpine where the guys there were awesome and helped with anything we needed.

Fitted us for snowboard boots, gave us the boots and told us to wait in line. Sat there for an hour then when they tried to fit us a board they came back and said they don’t have the same size bindings.

I recently rented ski equipment from Fred’s and I was extremely impressed with the service I received. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and they made the process of renting and fitting the equipment very easy. The prices were also very affordable, which was a pleasant surprise. One of the best things about this shop is its convenience - it is located right next to the Beech Mountain ski resort, so I was able to easily drop off the equipment at the end of the day. Overall, I had a great experience at this ski rental shop and would highly recommend it to anyone in need of equipment for their ski trip.

What a great experience! Fred’s staff was very nice and knowledgeable about the skis and equipment. This was only our second time skiing at Beech Mtn and we will probably not rent anywhere else from here on out. Compared to other rental places, the Ski boots were better fitting, the bindings were set to a better setting, and the employees were super accommodating to us beginners! Also! If you are skiing in the morning, check out their Deli! The food was great! I love Fred’s and the ski lodge feel to the place!

My friends and I rented skis/boots/helmets from Fred's a few weeks ago and had a great experience! The price was much lower than other nearby rentals and they had all of the equipment we needed. It was a busy day but the staff was still helpful and accommodating. We were a bit late returning our rentals due to snow/bad weather on the mountain, and the staff was super understanding and did not charge extra. Would highly recommend and go back in the future!

I tried to rent skis at the Resort for my large family before christmas and had a absolutely horrible experience. Our condo rental agency recommended Fred's Ski Shop and we could have not been happier. The staff at Freds was welcoming and accommodating for me and my family . The prices were much better and the equipment was in great condition (the clothing was brand new!) We appriciated the time the staff took to tell us about the mountain and some pointers for my kids who were 1sr time snowboarders . We will be back for sure !

Like you, I often read reviews before giving my hard earned money to a business. Let me honest, I love Fred’s store. Every visit to the Beech would include a stop for breakfast and to pick up some mountain staples. That’s why, despite the negative reviews, I decided to give their ski rentals a try. Never again, the ski rentals staff ruined the whole store for me. They were extremely rude and unwillingly to accommodate simple requests. Fred, if you’re reading this, do you and your business a favor and fire the slackers who were working at 3 on 2/13/2021.

Products need to be replaced. Bindings would "freeze" every 30 minutes and wouldn't latch and the rude employee, Derrick, interrupted me while explaining this and told me to "thaw them out". After spending $60 on rentals at Fred's and $80 on a lift ticket, we didn't particularly think spending more than half of the day inside waiting on the bindings to "thaw out" when they are supposed to be built for freezing temperatures (it is a SNOWboard afterall) was the day we paid for. SO rude. Horrible service. Low quality products. Just rent from Beech Mtn. in advance. Avoid.

I do not recommend this place. The service is terrible, the employees are rude and not helpful. When I was there on Friday they said I could rent skis for two days and if I decide not to ski on Sunday that I could refund it. When I went back on Saturday to return. The employee yelled at me and said that I was not allowed to do that and then proceeded to not refund me. I don’t care if your employees are not trained well that isn’t my fault. If your employee tells me they will refund me then despite your policy you need to refund me. PERIOD. Just know if you’re going to go here expect a bad experience.

Signs clearly posted on doors that masks are required, yet none of the staff were wearing masks. When I asked an employee to put a mask on before he helped, he walked away and refused to wait on my family. He then sent over another unmasked employee to help us, who was not socially distanced and didn't recognize (or didn't care) that we were uncomfortable. We left without renting anything.
