Wonderful experience! Great opportunity to learn the process of candle-making from an experienced professional who makes class fun! Charlotte was amazing and passionate about her job as class instructor. She provided us with local history as well, as some of their candle fragrances are named after significant historical figures and places in the area. Highly recommend attending one of these classes. Plus, you make your own souvenir to take home!

Two of us decided to try candle making. We had a wonderful instructor who helped us in the candle making process. We were able to choose our scents and our candle containers. The container choices was huge which made it hard to decide. The entire process went beyond my expectations. What a well run shop! This makes a wonderful girls day out activity!!

My husband’s aunt recommended we visit while we were in Roan Mountain so we had to stop by with all the kids. Unfortunately we didn’t know when candle making classes were but the owners were able to do a special class for us since we had 6 girls hoping to make candles. They told them about the history of Banner Ell which I found interesting (the kids didn’t remember all of it) and some of the names of the scents. All of the ingredients (soy based wax and scents) were all natural and didn’t bother my allergies or nose so that was a huge bonus. All the girls had fun, my youngest was SO excited they had an elephant vessel she could use to make a candle! We would definitely recommend stopping by to visit when you’re in the area. Everyone was super nice and all the girls from ages 7-17 had fun! (Adults could also join in if they wanted of course, but we sat back and let the girls do it this time. FYI the prices seemed to range from $38-45 per person for the candles they made which included the class.)You do have to wait 2-3 hours for them to cool and set before you can take them home. I think the regular classes are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 11am so you can sign up (call or sign up online I believe), come make your candles and then go grab a leisurely lunch or go shopping and come back to pick them up.We can’t wait to burn our candles!

We went to a candle pouring class this past Thursday and had such a great time! We made friends with others taking this class and had fun picking out scents and measuring everything. It is definitely worth the money to see how natural your candle is that you are making. It dries quickly and can be picked up within a few hours. When you use all the candle, you are left with a vessel that can serve a whole other purpose. Additionally, the owners, Don & Kathy, are some of the most warm-hearted people we met on our trip. It felt like we could talk to them for hours. We also bought soaps that are made with all natural ingredients. We definitely recommend stopping by here & taking a class!

Cathy and Don are amazing! My boyfriend and I took the candle making class as a little afternoon date and it was the cutest and most fun excursion! Great for tourists or locals! It was such a great experience. We also left with 3 other candles and soap!

Such a fun class! I loved learning the history of the area and how it's tied to candle names and fragrances. learned so much and made new friends too! Highly recommend. The shop is also adorable with all kinds of bath bombs, bath salts, candles and other merchandise. This would be a great place to shop for a gift.

First time visiting this little gem! My wife loves candles and this little shop has many varieties to choose from. We preferred the candles made in-house as the scents were more unique to us. The lady that helped us was super friendly and provided details we would have never known about candles otherwise. If you like candles or soap this is definitely the place worth visiting.

Just returned from Banner Elk after a long weekend with friends. We visited a lot of shops but I have to say, Banner Elk Soap & Candle Co. was my favorite, by far. We were greeted warmly immediately upon entering and spent quite a while looking around and enjoying all of the products. I especially appreciate items made in-house, as there's always a special quality about them. I bought a sack full of their house-poured candles and am burning Honeysuckle Hollow now... so nice!
