700 Federal Rd, Bald Head Island“Loved this shop. Employees very friendly. Sale items on porch. Very fully stocked with most everything you would expect from a secluded island gift shop. Toys for kiddos. Clothing for an array of sizes. Gift wears galore. Beauty items, too. One suggestion is to identify the locally made items as such.”
“Love the Friday night live bands. Saturday night switches between DJ / karaoke and live bands. As usual, some karaoke singers are really good and some bands are more to our liking than others, but variety is great.Lots of TVs for sports. Couple of pool tables, shuffle board table. Very nice dance area. Very reasonable prices for food and many dishes are large enough for two to share. Main lodge area is smoke free - extra lodge room in separate building is for smoking.”
“Nice people along with lots of choices. I don't think it is overpriced. Items are donated and on the floor within a few hours. They also have truck pick up and delivery.”
“The work of the BHI Conservancy is undoubtedly stelar! The work they do to preserve the island for the turtles is priceless! One older review mentioned how expensive the island is (hmmm… you are on an island it takes effort and resources to get food and supplies here, hence the cost is higher) and the person also mentions that one needs a membership of $250 to watch the turtles hatch. Not true. Our family witnessed numerous hatching moments without paying a penny. Once it took us a simple stroll on the beach shortly after the sunset to stumble on a nest with baby turtles climbing out of the sand. Unforgettable! Other option is to follow the Conservatory excavation schedule and make time to show up. You ll have a wonderful experience! Like going anywhere else , simple planning ahead of your arrival to the island is common sense. It’s a beautiful island:)”
