My family stopped by to check out the conservancy. We were greeted by an employee who gave us some information on what to do. The media center is neat. My son loved the interactive sand box. I did, too. There are a few live animals in the other building. We enjoyed the yellow-belly turtles and everything else to look at and interact with. Neat stop, especially if you have children.

Our family was out on the South Beach today, August 12th when we saw two of the turtle conservation vehicles come inspect a nest that had hatched a few days earlier. We walked over for a visit and all of the staff were so polite and my two young daughters learned so much. This short moment was definitely the highlight of our vacation. Thanks to each and every one of you that work hard to ensure turtle education and safety.

If you want to visit this island, make sure to get the early morning ferry, and rent a golf cart. Pretty sure this place had a lot to offer, but we couldn't do much because we came at 4:00 pm, and rentals close at 4:00! There is only so much you can cover on foot

My family and I did the scavenger hunt created by the Conservancy and had a great time exploring the island. The classes and information from the staff is a great resource and they are a great resource for keeping BHI amazing.

I attended a very cool sea turtle demonstration where they took the group to the beach and they showed how turtle eggs hatch.

It's wonderful all they are doing for the island. But sadly access to activities is almost impossible. If you are considering a trip to the island, plan weeks and weeks in advance. Activities through the conservancy like fishing and kayaking will likely be booked by the time you arrive if you travel during the busy summer season. Hope to see sea turtles hatch? It's a $250 membership fee per family. The whole island is just staggering when it comes to costs and what you get in return. Our sons ran in the Turtle Trot 5K and did enjoy that, that still had openings a couple days before. Overall the whole experience on the island was disappointing because so much was booked or really expensive. But the conservancy does offer many fun things to do while on the island.

Okay, Its on BHI, It is a cool place to visit, Sign up for a Turtle Release if your on the island or live nearby. Great gifts for youngsters, friendly faces and safe with Covid upgrades. Great place to check out during peak sun times, when its too hot to be at the pool or the Beach or if the flies are biting. Like the rest of the island it has personality! Enjoy!

We did a workshop for Girl Scouts that taught us about sea turtles and how to help protect them. The facility was nice and it was a great program. The kids had lots of fun. We took the ferry from Southport, which is $11 for kids and $23 for adults. There are no cars on the island except for special permits, so they had a tram. to take us across to the Conservancy. It was a great day and fun experience.
