I stopped here this morning hoping to get a few crackers or something to snack on. It was closed…as I should have expected on a Sunday morning, but as I walked back to my car a man came out of the house next door and asked if he could help me. I couldn’t believe it when he offered to open up and let me buy some items since he was clearly headed to the church across the road. His name was Gray (?) son of the owners. I felt like I was blessed being able to chat a few minutes with him, gather up some snacks and real bottled Coca-cola and pet the friendliest cat, Big Momma, I left with the biggest smile on my face and feeling as if I had just experienced a rare moment in life in a place I will never forget and it all was so unexpected. The kindness I was shown and true friendly connection I made has kept me smiling all day! I can’t wait to travel through again and stop at Thomas Grocery. It is special!!

Small, local grocery with a little of everything but a lot of genuine home town charm. Seems the place and owner have been around for a while. It isn’t fancy, not new made to look old and quaint. They had some local produce and the basics.

Great little general store. Owners are super nice folks. Stopped in and grabbed a dope and a candy bar after an afternoon of hiking on the Roan. Sort of takes you back in time when things were much simpler and people were much nicer than they generally are today.
