Really cool school for the arts. Textile, metal work, pottery, printing and more. Beautiful setting.

Worth the drive but we visited on a Tuesday afternoon and did not see many artists at work. The coffee shop and gallery happened to be closed that day but are usually open on Tuesday. Exquisite displays in the visitor center.

Start at the Welcome Center & Galleries to get a map for a self-guided tour, then travel up to the Penland campus. Large outside tents to enjoy your sandwiches, beverages & ice-cream sandwiches from the coffee shop (MASKS REQUIRED). Public can look through the windows in various buildings (clay, iron, glass, wood, etc.) at artist's at work.. Gorgeous mountain views. Interesting and fun experience.

First time here + loving it. The photo was the first look out of my window when I got here yesterday, but the class I'm taking is way cooler than this photo

I love this school, I have always sold the works I made in this school in the school auction to help the school . I met some interesting people here and I get excited every time I go back to Penland

I was a student at Penland summer of 2017 and 2019. I was provided a work study scholarship which made it possible to attend. I love it there! The atmosphere (social as well as natural). The Instructors and students are all focused on their craft and are interested in other's craft as well. The instructors are friendly and gifted and willing to share their interests ad skills. The studios are kept neat and clean and are well-supplied. Their new building is beautiful and makes it possible for large group activities.
