My wife and I love with this store, and whenever we're in Ashville we always stop by there. I've found some great deals on camping & hiking gear, and the staff have always been very friendly and helpful.

I have spent thousands at this store over the course of almost 2 decades. Recently, I was accused of stealing (by a manager) when I went to the bathroom with my own jacket in my arms. I'll never shop there again after this

Such a great shop. We were looking for a baby hiking carrier and DMed them on Instagram to see if they had any. Within a few minutes, they sent us a link to what they had in stock. We popped over, tried one out and bought it for such an amazing price! They had so many other nice things in there too. Definitely recommend checking them out! Thanks for the amazing service!

Ryan and Mitch are great guys at the Asheville 2nd Gear store. They went above and beyond to help me with a consignment issue. This is a great store to shop in for anybody. It's clean and well organized. Parking is good-front and back of the store. The location is very easy to find.

Love this store! A fun combo of trendy and vintage pieces. I would buy every piece in this store. If you go, you know you’ll find something!

Second Gear is my go to shop for everything outdoor. They always have a great selection of consigned clothing, gear, and equipment. They also keep a good rotation of new items in too. Second Gear is incredibly fair with taking consignment which makes it such a good option for selling your old gear or clothing. They have monthly nonprofit partners too! I love that they recently added their online shop with makes it even easier to find what I'm looking for. Be sure to sign up for their email list for special coupons to and know when all the best sales are! I will always shop Second Gear first for myself and for gifts! Thanks for being here guys!

A great place to find gently used second-hand gear, although they do carry new items as well. An employee noticed us looking around and helped us find what we were looking for. Great service, will be returning!

The customer service here is the bomb!! Everyone I talked to over the phone was super friendly and helpful. I was looking for replacement SUP fins that were sold out everywhere in the country except here. They went above and beyond to get the fins shipped to me and they arrived a quick 4 days later in AZ!!! Thanks guys :) you rock!!

I would give this place 10 stars!Everyone who works here has been so friendly the variety of items is incredibly impressive. We don't have anything like this where I'm from and I find something I need every time. Can't believe they have nice used stuff as well. Swoon

Lots of selection and a good map/book area. However, the prices for much of the used goods are ridiculous! For example, $60 for a pair of very worn sandals.

I went to Second Gear to see if I could sell my bicycle on consignment. The person behind the consignment counter took the bike out of my jeep. I didn't go with him because I had to move the jeep out of their parking lot. He wasn't very nice about offering to work with me and said their split is 50-50. I asked him if he could do better than that and he wouldn't. They also would not repair the back tire and told me to go somewhere else. I did and the guys at Trek fixed the tire for me right in front of me, so I know they didn't steal anything from my bike. It had a really nice 5-way reflector on the center of the handlebars for front headlights. When I got home I noticed it was missing and I called Trek to see if he noticed anything missing. He said, he noticed the headlight was ripped off. I have strong reason to believe that someone from Second Gear stole my headlight. I spoke to the store owner who denied stealing anything from my bike. He said," People steal from me all the time." I thought this was motivation enough for him to steal from me today. When I told him I believed it was stolen from someone at his store, he denied it. I have a feeling it was Peter, the guy who took the bike inside while I was parking my jeep. In short, this shop is in a bad neighborhood where people are known to steal. The service here was poor and I would not choose to do business with them again in the future.
