Trish was absolutely incredible during our private lesson! We had a blast, we learned a ton, and we walked away with 6 handmade pieces we can use for years to come. EXCELLENT couples' activity.

Just finished a really wonderful class at Odyssey... so wonderful that I've registered for the same class next session. The classes are a very reasonable price considering how much they offer with open studio hours and all of the tools they have available for students to use.AC Bell was also a wonderful teacher to throw with.

Plenty of outstanding pottery finds. The River Arts District has many artists studios. I would suggest taking the whole day.

My 8yo went to the summer camp and now takes classes here and loves it! We are taking a family class together and it’s great. The instructors are very helpful and patient. Never worked with clay before this class and I’ve learned so much!

This may be the best art gallery I've ever seen. Wonderful selection of different types of pottery at different price points, they had curated a wonderful selection of local artisans, and the layout was done in a way where it felt easy to browse but space was still maximized. Found several artists that I will probably look into buying when I have more disposable income, which is not something I generally say after visiting one of these places. Overall highly recommended!

I scheduled a private wheel session for my partner and I. Our instructor Hannah was very welcoming from the start and did an outstanding job working with us and teaching us the proper throwing techniques. I cannot recommend Odyssey Clayworks enough and we look forward to coming back for another session in the future!

Outstanding experience. I booked a 2 hour private lesson with my partner and we were able to produce 7 finished pieces between the two of us! Our instructor, Madison, was great at explaining and demonstrating techniques, and was with us the whole time for when we needed assistance. The space was beautiful with good natural lighting, and we were able to choose out of 4 glaze colors for each of our pieces. Madison will trim the pieces and glaze them, and they will be ready for pick up in around 2 weeks! Would absolutely come back.

Odyssey ClayWorks is located on Clingman Ave, adjacent to the French Broad River in the artist district of Asheville. They are a teaching facility, gallery, and working resident studio for more than 20 artists. The teaching facility offers classes for both the beginning student new to ceramics, all they way up to those with advanced pottery interests. Classes are offered in both hand-building and the pottery wheel operation. The teachers have many years of experience and provide training in all the basic fundamentals of ceramic construction, firing and glazing etc.My own personal experience at Odyssey ClayWorks was very positive. As a new ceramic student, taking a first time hand-building and pottery wheel course, I felt quite comfortable among the studio staff and fellow community of students. Teachers were friendly and always willing to go out of their way to assist you. Course construction was quite good, consisting of teaching demonstrations, recorded video, and hands on instruction. For a new student trying to grasp the fundamentals of ceramics, I felt immediately at ease in the learning environment. The pottery and hand-building class I took was popular, and consisted of approximately 13 students. Though the teaching studio is fairly large, actual class size is limited by the number pottery wheels available. From my own personal experience, it is generally a good idea to sign up early as courses tend to get booked quite rapidly. The cost of the course and lab was $380.00. This included the course study and lab fee for the use of their on-site kiln and glazes. Students are initially provided with a 25 lb block of clay. Additional clay needs can be purchased through High water Clay located on Riverside Drive. New students will also need to purchase a set of basic pottery tools. These tools can be obtained locally through Highwater Clay or Michaels, or the internet. My initial thought was that the cost of the course was quite expensive. Classes were held once weekly for 2 hours on Sundays for 8 weeks. However, when you include the additional open lab hours in which you can use the studio facilities, then the price seems quite reasonable. Open hours can be used to practice and reinforce the teaching skills taught in each class. Teachers and supervisors are usually around should you have a question or technique that you need assistance with.Whether you are a new, casual or experienced student, Odyssey ClayWorks provides a wonderful opportunity to learn and hone your individual pottery skills among a diverse community of people.

No customer service skills at all. Unresponsive to both email and voicemail - never answers phone. When call is finally returned after multiple messages, person (Halima??) was disengaged as if they don't need any new business ( must be nice in this current fiscal climate, but hey..) She was unable to answer a simple question and the vibe was rude. We decided to take our business elsewhere.
